The most prominent part of the male external genitalia is the penis, which has a thin, movable skin. The skin of the penis is folded into a double layer at the penis, called the foreskin. Before the age of 7, the foreskin is long enough to completely cover the glans penis and the external opening of the urethra. As puberty develops, the penis increases in size and length, the foreskin retracts, and the glans penis is exposed in adulthood. However, in about 30% of adults, the foreskin still completely covers the glans penis. The glans penis and urethral opening can only be exposed when the foreskin is turned up manually or when the penis is fully erect. This condition is called prepuce is too long. When the foreskin is too long, too tight, cannot be turned up, or the glans penis and urethra opening cannot be exposed during erection, it is called phimosis, accounting for about 8%. For those with phimosis or foreskin that is too long, the sebaceous glands in the foreskin will secrete a white secretion with a strange smell. It is not easy to be discharged and will become smegma after long-term accumulation. In addition, the retention of urine drops or semen will easily lead to the growth of bacteria, causing inflammation of the glans penis and foreskin, and itching. If you do not pay attention to cleaning, in addition to causing pain during sexual intercourse and adhesion of the foreskin and glans, it will also hinder the sexual life of the couple and may even cause penile cancer. According to statistics, more than 90% of penile cancer is caused by phimosis or foreskin. In addition, due to the long-term stimulation of smegma, if it is not cleaned properly, the defense function of local skin tissue will be reduced and it will be easy to be infected by infectious pathogens. It can be seen that it is very important for men to develop the habit of cleaning their external genitalia. When taking a bath, use your hands to pull the foreskin back to the glans and remove the accumulated dirt and sebum. Since the inner layer of the foreskin is thinner and smoother than the outer layer and is more sensitive to chemical cleaners, when cleaning the foreskin and glans, it is sufficient to rinse it with clean water once a day. If you use soap or shower gel to clean your body, but don't rinse off the foam, many people will experience an allergic reaction to the foreskin and glans, and feel uncomfortable. In case inflammation is caused by dirt accumulation between the foreskin and the glans, you can soak and scrub it with a special vulva disinfectant and cleansing solution. In serious cases, you should consult a specialist. If it is phimosis, it is often impossible to thoroughly clean the smegma. Even if the foreskin can be turned up, it is easy for the foreskin to become incarcerated. It is recommended to undergo circumcision as soon as possible. |
