What are the causes of rectal cancer

The so-called Western diet, which is high in fat, protein and low in fiber, is believed to be related to the occurrence of colorectal cancer. Western countries are areas with a high incidence of colorectal cancer, and the incidence of colorectal cancer is high. In contrast, the Banti tribe in South Africa consumes rough food that is low in fat and rich in fiber, and the incidence of colorectal cancer is low. If these residents immigrate to areas with a high incidence of colorectal cancer, their dietary structure will change, and the incidence will increase accordingly.

Because high-fat and high-protein foods can increase the amount of methylcholanthracene in feces, which can increase bile acid secretion and be decomposed into unsaturated polyunsaturated hydrocarbons by anaerobic bacteria in the intestines. Both substances are carcinogenic. The reduction of cellulose slows down the speed of feces passing through the intestines, which increases the contact time between these carcinogens and the intestinal conjunctiva, increasing the chance of cancer.

Tumor polyps can become cancerous. Adenomas can be divided into three types: tubular adenomas, villous adenomas, and mixed adenomas. Tubular adenomas have a high incidence rate, and villous adenomas have a high rate of canceration. Among adenomas, there are hereditary familial adenomas, which are considered precancerous lesions. In the families of patients with rectal cancer, many have a family history of cancer, and there are also many digestive tract tumors. Due to the change of genes in normal cells, cancer patients inherit a susceptibility in their bodies, and with certain stimulating factors, the tissue cells grow rapidly, which will develop into cancer. The cell genetic genes mutate and become malignant cells with genetic characteristics, which manifests as a family history of cancer.

Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease are caused by the destruction of intestinal mucosa, the proliferation of ulcer repair, and the formation of granulation tissue, which leads to cancer. The deposition of schistosomiasis eggs in the rectal mucosa and chronic inflammation stimulate cancer.

Regarding the relationship between diet and cancer, the most studied one is fat, including saturated fat and unsaturated fat. The fat in the diet can promote the growth of cancer cells and can also cause normal cells to mutate early and evolve into tumors. Whether it is animal fat or vegetable fat, it should be reduced as much as possible. Excessive fat, especially animal fat, can stimulate the secretion of bile acid in the small intestine. When the amount of bile acid in the intestine is too high, it is easy to become a carcinogen and promote the growth of cancer cells. It can be seen that a high-fat diet is closely related to the occurrence of rectal cancer.

The intake of dietary fiber can reduce the incidence of colorectal cancer. The reason may be that dietary fiber has strong water absorption, which can increase the volume of feces, make feces shaped, facilitate defecation, and reduce the concentration of carcinogens in the intestine, thereby reducing the risk of colorectal cancer. Therefore, on the premise of maintaining the amount of staple food unchanged, use some coarse grains to replace fine grains, such as konjac, soybeans and their products.

The role of vitamins and trace elements cannot be underestimated. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits to supplement carotene and vitamin C. Eat walnuts, peanuts, dairy products, seafood, etc. in moderation to supplement vitamin E. Pay attention to the intake of foods rich in trace elements such as malt, fish, and mushrooms.
