Every disease will have its symptoms, but if we don’t understand these, we won’t be able to detect the disease early. We do need to know something about the early symptoms of laryngeal cancer, because a malignant tumor like laryngeal cancer will bring a lot of harm to our patients. Only by early detection and early treatment can we reduce some of the harm. The following editor will introduce the early symptoms of laryngeal cancer. 1. Stubborn hoarseness Hoarseness is the earliest sign of laryngeal cancer. Laryngeal cancer is a tumor that grows on the vocal cords. Even if it is small in size, it will cause hoarseness. Any adult with unexplained hoarseness that lasts for more than two weeks should undergo a detailed throat examination and should not be taken lightly. Because the patient does not feel any pain or itching at this time, it is often mistakenly believed to be caused by a "cold" or "pharyngitis." However, hoarseness caused by colds and inflammation will quickly improve as the inflammation subsides, while the hoarseness symptoms caused by laryngeal cancer will progressively worsen, and gradually develop into a coarser and hoarse voice, until complete loss of voice. 2. Abnormal sensation in the throat Foreign body sensation, urgency or swallowing discomfort are early symptoms of supraglottic laryngeal cancer. However, the initial symptoms of this type of cancer are often not obvious and are not discovered until the second or third stage. Tracing the medical history can take several months. Therefore, if middle-aged and elderly people have throat discomfort, they should undergo a comprehensive and detailed examination and should not treat it hastily as pharyngeal paresthesia or chronic pharyngitis, which will waste precious treatment opportunities. 3. Coughing with blood in sputum Because tumor stimulation can cause irritating dry coughs, blood in sputum, and patients often feel sticky mucus, so they often "wash their throats". When the tumor grows larger, it will block the airway, making it difficult for tracheal secretions to be discharged, causing respiratory infections, wheezing, and even dyspnea. In the middle and late stages, it will manifest as persistent coughs and changes in pronunciation. 4. Reflex pain When laryngeal cancer is combined with ulcers, inflammation, or laryngeal cartilage periostitis, it can cause reflex pain in the nerves, manifested as headache and ear pain on the same side. These symptoms mainly occur in patients with supraglottic tumors. 5. Precancerous lesions Through the introduction of the above 5 points, I believe we all have an understanding of the early symptoms of laryngeal cancer. I hope that understanding these symptoms can help patients with laryngeal cancer detect the disease in time and take treatment measures early when they are suffering from the disease. Do not miss the best time for treatment and strive to relieve the disease earlier. |
