What are the characteristics of the medical history of patients with cervical spondylosis

The medical history of patients with cervical spondylosis has the following characteristics:

(1) Etiology: Patients with cervical spondylosis generally have long-term desk work or other occupational experiences that require them to lower their heads or turn their head and neck in a certain direction, or have daily living habits of poor sleeping posture, improper use of bedding such as beds and pillows, or have working or living environments that are damp or cold.

(2) The nature and characteristics of the first symptoms: A detailed understanding of the first symptoms is of particular importance for diagnosis and differential diagnosis, the progression of the disease, and the choice of treatment methods.

(3) Patients with sensory disturbances at the onset. If the patient's first symptom is numbness and soreness in the upper limbs, it indicates that the spinal canal is relatively narrow, and attention should be paid to whether there is cervical spinal stenosis.

(4) Patients with movement disorders as the first symptom. This indicates that the compressive object from the front of the spinal canal (such as a protruding nucleus pulposus) is the main pathological anatomical change that causes spinal cord compression.

(5) Symptoms of numbness or pain in one hand may be present. This indicates that there may be instability or bone hyperplasia of the uncovertebral joint (including the intervertebral joint). There may also be a protrusion of the nucleus pulposus to the side and back.
