How is teratoma formed

Teratoma is a common germ cell tumor that originates from the primordial germ cells of the embryonic gland. Common causes of teratoma include genetic factors, dietary habits, compression, ectopic pregnancy ectoderm tissue, and bone marrow transplantation.

1. Genetic factors:

Teratomas can be congenital, due to some genetic mutation or defect during embryonic development, which causes the embryonic cells to mutate. In this case, the same case may appear in the patient's family.

2. Eating habits:

If you have an irregular diet or have abnormal eating habits for a long time and do not pay attention to food hygiene, this situation will also lead to teratoma. So we need to pay attention to good habits in daily life.

3. Oppression causes:

If a benign ovarian cyst is large, it will cause the entire abdominal cavity to fill up. At this time, the intra-abdominal pressure will gradually increase, and it will also affect the venous return of the lower limbs. At this time, obvious lower limb edema or abdominal wall edema will appear, forming a teratoma.

4. Ectopic ectodermal tissue during pregnancy:

Another possible cause of teratoma is ectopic ectodermal tissue during pregnancy, which means that some tissues in the developing embryo grow and differentiate at the wrong time or location. These ectodermal tissues can form cysts in the peritoneum or other organs, manifesting as teratomas.

5. Bone marrow transplantation:

Teratomas may be caused by some undifferentiated embryonic cells becoming xenogeneic cells during bone marrow transplantation. These xenogeneic cells can form teratomas in the transplanted organ.

Mature teratomas have the risk of malignant changes, and immature teratomas themselves are a type of malignant tumor that seriously threatens women's lives and health. If a patient accidentally finds a lump in the abdomen, or an ovarian teratoma is found during a physical examination, she needs to go to the hospital as soon as possible for a clear diagnosis.
