What are the causes of lymphoma

The etiology and pathogenesis of lymphoma are still unclear, but it is generally believed to be the result of multiple factors.

1. Virus This is an important cause of lymphoma. After continuous culture of the lesion tissue of Hodgkin's patients, two types of virus-like particles can be observed under an electron microscope: herpes virus particles and simian virus SVS-like particles. In recent years, research on Burkitt's lymphoma (which is common in African children) has confirmed that its occurrence is related to the EB virus. However, so far, it can only be proved that lymphoma in some animals is caused by viruses, and there is still insufficient evidence for humans.

2. Physical and chemical factors are the predisposing factors of lymphoma, such as radiation. According to statistics, the incidence of lymphoma is higher among the survivors of the Hiroshima atomic bomb. In addition, the long-term use of certain chemical drugs such as immunosuppressants, anti-epileptic drugs, and adrenocortical hormones can lead to the proliferation of lymphatic reticular tissue and eventually lymphoma.

3. Immunodeficiency Immune factors play an important role in the occurrence and development of lymphoma. Experiments have shown that patients with lymphoma, especially those with Hodgkin's disease, have severe immunodeficiency autoimmune diseases such as Sjögren's syndrome and immunodeficiency diseases such as agammaglobulinemia, hypogammaglobulinemia, and Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, which are more likely to be complicated by lymphoma. However, there are different opinions on whether immunodeficiency is the cause of lymphoma or the consequence of the disease process, which needs further research.

4. Genetic factors: This disease is often accompanied by chromosome-specific infection, and the causal relationship between this disease and lymphoma is still unclear.
