What factors are likely to induce laryngeal cancer

What factors are likely to induce laryngeal cancer

When people encounter hoarseness, they often think it is related to laryngeal cancer. However, this is not entirely true, because lung cancer mass compressing the recurrent laryngeal nerve can also cause hoarseness and other symptoms, which is a manifestation of early lung cancer.

Since hoarseness can occur not only in lung cancer or laryngeal cancer, but also in esophageal cancer, mediastinal tumors, and even in the common cold or laryngitis, a differential diagnosis of hoarseness is necessary to prevent misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis of laryngeal cancer.

(1) Smoking: Data show that the mortality rate of laryngeal cancer among smokers is more than 20 times higher than that of non-smokers. The more you smoke and the longer you smoke, the higher your risk of laryngeal cancer.

Until the relationship between laryngeal cancer and smoking is fully understood, some people who are addicted to smoking should quit smoking.

(2) Hot drinks: Iranian researchers have recently discovered that drinking overheated tea may cause laryngeal cancer. A study suggests that people who drink boiling tea above 70°C have a seven times higher risk of laryngeal cancer than those who drink warm tea below 65°C. The reason is that repeated burns to the inner wall of the throat may cause cancer in some way. Therefore, here we advise people to wait for hot drinks to cool down a little before drinking them.

(3) Those who drink excessively or drink and smoke at the same time.

(4) Air pollution.

(5) Associated with papillomavirus infection.

(6) People with partial vocal cord leukoplakia.

(7) Some people also suspect that there is a certain relationship between chronic laryngitis and laryngeal cancer. Therefore, patients with chronic laryngitis that cannot be cured should be vigilant.
