What makes lung cancer so rampant

What makes lung cancer so rampant

When it comes to cancer, people will easily think of lung cancer, because of its high incidence and high mortality rate, it can be called the "number one killer". At present, there are 200,000 new cases of lung cancer every year in the world, and one person dies of lung cancer every 30 seconds. If the incidence of other cancers is closely related to genes, eating habits, etc., then the high incidence of lung cancer is more of a question to the living environment such as air, fumes, and water. Experts unanimously pointed out that in order to curb this "killer", we must start with small things around us - quit smoking, quit drinking, adjust our emotions, and even choose standard gasoline. Everyone should think carefully.

Lung cancer: Soared from 10th to 1st

In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, lung cancer was only ranked tenth in the incidence of male malignant tumors, but now it has become the number one disease in the incidence of male malignant tumors in major cities such as Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Wuhan! This shows how fast it is rising. Most patients are in the middle and late stages of the disease when they are admitted to the hospital for treatment, and the mortality rate of lung cancer is also high.

Lung cancer incidence and mortality rate ranked first

Although cancer is an ancient disease, records of lung cancer only began in the 16th century. After the 20th century, the incidence of lung cancer increased rapidly like a wild horse. In this sense, lung cancer is a man-made tumor caused by human's own bad behavior.

Oil smoke and benzene are confirmed as the killers of lung cancer

The high incidence of lung cancer can be attributed to its huge living space. Experts from various countries unanimously believe that indoor pollution has become the culprit of lung cancer - kitchen fumes and harmful substances in house decoration have become the two major causes of lung cancer; and the chemical benzene that lingers for a long time after the decoration of a new house has been pushed to the top for the first time.

Second-hand smoke causes lung cancer

Among all the causes of lung cancer, tobacco is considered to be the most "arrogant" factor. Nowadays, tobacco has made lung cancer, like high blood pressure and diabetes, a common disease in life. According to statistics, the incidence of lung cancer in smokers is 10.8 times that of non-smokers. It can be said that about 80% of lung cancer is related to smoking.

Wives whose husbands smoke and children whose parents smoke are more likely to get lung cancer

The wife of a smoking husband (passive smoker) is twice as likely to develop lung cancer as a non-smoker; the risk of lung cancer for those who were passive smokers in childhood is much higher than that of those who were not passive smokers in childhood. Children who are exposed to smoke for a long time every day have a risk of lung cancer three times higher than others.

Women who smoke are more likely to have lung cancer

Two out of ten female lung cancer patients never smoked. They got sick because of secondhand smoke. If you inhale secondhand smoke for 15 minutes a day, your chance of getting lung cancer is the same as that of a smoker. Quitting smoking is not only for your own health, but also out of love for your family.

Finally, attach importance to and insist on annual physical examinations, and do chest X-rays for each physical examination. People over 50 years old, if the number of cigarettes smoked per day multiplied by the number of years of smoking is greater than 400 (the smoking index for lung cancer), are at high risk of lung cancer. These people should try to do chest X-rays every year, and for suspected cases, perform ordinary CT scans, or even use spiral CT for detailed examinations. In this way, insisting on physical examinations can help early detection and early treatment.
