Nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients need psychological counseling after radiotherapy

Radiotherapy is a treatment method that uses various types of radiation to irradiate tumors to inhibit or kill tumor cells. Currently, radiotherapy is the first choice for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients. Medical staff and family members should not only provide appropriate care for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients after radiotherapy, but also provide appropriate psychological counseling for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients.

Nasopharyngeal cancer is one of the top ten most common diseases in my country. Many nasopharyngeal cancer patients carry a heavy psychological burden, such as fear of the side effects of radiotherapy, thinking that they have a terminal illness and will not live for many days, worrying about the prognosis and fearing cancer recurrence, etc. Little do they know that these psychological burdens and negative emotions will directly affect the treatment effect. Medical staff and family members should first understand that it is normal for nasopharyngeal cancer patients to have these psychological activities, and should persuade the patients, and nasopharyngeal cancer patients should also learn to adjust their own psychology.

① You can talk to someone, or even cry loudly, but don’t keep unhappy things to yourself. You should also learn to counsel yourself and adjust your mental state.

② Patients should learn some health care knowledge, learn how to arrange their life after illness, understand the effect of treatment, and build confidence in treatment;

③ Re-adjust relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and leaders, maintain an open-minded and cheerful attitude, and divert attention from adverse reactions to chemotherapy;

④ Cultivate a wide range of interests and hobbies, such as reading, painting, knitting, listening to music, etc., participate in social activities, actively seek to enjoy a happy and happy life, so as to improve the quality of life.
