3 training methods for patients with hemiplegia due to brain cancer

In addition to causing damage to the patient's nervous system, brain cancer can also cause hemiplegia of the limbs. After surgery, patients should strengthen limb functional exercises while taking medication to promote comprehensive recovery and improve quality of life.

1. Balance training

Balance training is very important, as it is the basis for ensuring that the patient can walk normally in the future. Ask the patient to sit on the edge of the bed with his legs hanging down by the bed, and gradually master the sitting balance by tilting the trunk forward, backward, left and right. Do this for 10 to 15 minutes each time. After the muscle tension of the lower limbs is restored, start practicing standing balance, and induce the body's standing balance reaction by tilting the trunk forward, backward, left and right. Keep training every day, pay attention to the combination of work and rest, and avoid excessive fatigue.

2. Walking Exercise

After the patient has mastered the sense of balance, walking training can begin. Severe hemiplegia patients need the assistance of their family members, who can tie a rope to the foot of the paralyzed lower limb. When the patient wants to take a step, the family members can gently pull the rope upward to assist the patient in taking a step. Moderate hemiplegia patients can train by the bed or against the wall. Mild hemiplegia patients can train on parallel bars, or walk frequently, go up and down stairs, etc., to enhance the elasticity and flexibility of leg muscles.

3. Exercises for muscle spasms

Correct limb function position in the early stage can reduce and counteract the tension of spastic muscles. Elbows, fingers and knees are the focus of rehabilitation exercises. Regular movement of these three joints can drive the movement of surrounding muscles, promote the stretching and contraction of muscle groups, and repeated movements can temporarily relieve muscle spasms. At the same time, various sensory stimuli are used to induce muscle activity, which can regulate the effects of various reflexes on movement. Appropriate joint pressure can promote proprioceptive input and induce tension balance of the two antagonistic muscle groups of flexion and extension.
