Six common factors that lead to kidney cancer

The causes of kidney cancer are very complex, and it is an oncological disease caused by multiple factors. So, what are the common factors that lead to kidney cancer?

1. Smoking. The relative risk factor for kidney cancer in smokers is higher than that in non-smokers, and the incidence of kidney cancer in people who have smoked for more than 30 years and smoked unfiltered cigarettes is significantly increased.

2. Obesity and high blood pressure: High body mass index (BMI) and high blood pressure are two common factors that increase the incidence of kidney cancer.

3. Genetic factors. The causes of hereditary renal cancer that have been identified include: ① VHL (retinal and central nervous system hemangioblastoma) syndrome. ② Hereditary papillary renal cancer. ③ Hereditary leiomyoma renal cancer. ④ BHD syndrome (a dominant genetic syndrome).

4. Radiation factors: Workers who are exposed to certain weak radioactive sources for a long time may increase the incidence of kidney cancer.

5. Occupational factors: Workers who have long-term contact with metals, printers, coke workers, dry cleaners, and petrochemical workers increase the incidence and mortality of kidney cancer.

6. Dietary factors. Excessive intake of dairy products, animal protein, fat or long-term lack of fresh fruits and vegetables can also lead to an increased incidence of kidney cancer. Foods and drugs that increase the risk of kidney cancer also include: coffee, female hormones (estrogen), antipyretic and analgesic drugs (especially drugs containing phenacetin, diuretics and red vine grass), etc.
