What are the symptoms after pancreatic cancer metastasis

Pancreatic cancer is very easy to metastasize. Due to the special location and function of the pancreas, it can metastasize to many parts of the body. So what are the symptoms after metastasis occurs?

General symptoms: After pancreatic cancer occurs, the tumor can directly infiltrate the wall of the common bile duct, or in the early stages obstructive jaundice may occur due to cancer compression. As the tumor develops, the cancer may adhere to the stomach, duodenum, large intestine, and inferior vena cava, or infiltrate the internal organs, and then infiltrate the superior mesenteric artery and portal vein, leading to portal hypertension and symptoms such as ascites.

Symptoms of retroperitoneal metastasis: Cancer of the pancreatic body and tail obviously develops into the retroperitoneum and compresses the splenic artery, often leading to splenomegaly and esophageal varices. If the cancer continues to expand backward and compresses or erodes the celiac plexus, low back pain will occur, and pancreatitis may occasionally occur.

Symptoms of bone metastasis: Bone metastasis of cancer can cause severe and persistent pain.

Symptoms of lung metastasis: Metastasis to the lungs and mediastinum can cause symptoms such as chest pain, cough, and difficulty breathing.

Symptoms of metastasis to the liver and other parts: Bile stasis or metastasis to the liver can cause liver enlargement. The clavicle, axillary or inguinal lymph nodes may also swell and harden due to cancer metastasis.

When pancreatic cancer patients experience the above symptoms, metastasis to the corresponding parts of the body should be considered, and comprehensive treatment should be carried out. Unilateral treatment of pancreatic cancer or cancer in the metastatic site cannot achieve the expected effect. Only by treating both at the same time can a more satisfactory result be achieved.
