Work environment induces skin cancer

Work environment induces skin cancer

Skin cancer is a malignant tumor caused by multiple factors. Excessive exposure to chemical pollution in the working environment can increase the incidence of skin cancer, so high-risk groups working in dangerous environments should take good protection.

Mr. Chen from Yunnan is in his early 40s and has worked in a battery factory for nearly 20 years. He is usually in good health, but recently he often feels weak and has a lot of hard red bumps on his right upper arm. But he didn't pay much attention to it at first. But later he heard many colleagues say that they had similar symptoms to a greater or lesser extent, and then Mr. Chen realized that he might have skin cancer, which his colleagues often talked about.

Mr. Chen did not dare to delay and quickly went to the hospital for a checkup during his break. The pathology results showed that Mr. Chen was indeed suffering from a type of skin cancer called squamous cell carcinoma. Fortunately, Mr. Chen was alert and discovered it early. After receiving timely surgical treatment, his condition has been stable.

As for why Mr. Chen was so alert and quickly realized his situation, it all started with his master. Mr. Chen's master, Lao Lu, was also an old worker who had worked in the factory for his entire life. When he was in his 50s, he found a patch of small red bumps on his back, the same as Mr. Chen's now. He never took it seriously, but later he felt pain all over his body and his shoulders were so painful that he couldn't move, so he went to the hospital for a check-up. It was later diagnosed as skin cancer, which was already in the late stage. When the doctor asked what kind of work he did and whether anyone in his family had the disease, he learned that Mr. Chen's work would expose him to a substance called arsenic for a long time, which can induce the onset of skin cancer, so he should take good protection at work.
