How to diagnose mental illness? Diagnosis of mental illness

Mental illness has long been listed as a type of disease that seriously affects people's lives and work. In recent years, people have paid more and more attention to the hazards and prevention of mental illness. Under high-stress conditions, anxiety and depression are common manifestations of mental illness. When there are symptoms of mental illness, it is easier to ignore them and not think that you are ill. Let’s take a look at how to identify mental illness.

1. Comparison: It is just one experience as a standard. There are two aspects of experience: one is the individual’s own subjective experience, and the other is the experience of the observer.

The individual may feel different from before, such as experiencing low mood, unhappiness or depression, and feel distressed, so he needs to seek help from a doctor.

If the observer observes that the patient's behavior is different from the past based on his or her own experience, it can also be considered abnormal. This judgment method is often affected by subjective factors such as the observer's own experience, knowledge level, observation angle and emotional tendency, and therefore has certain limitations.

2. Changes in the nature of psychological activities: If obvious qualitative changes are observed in the patient's psychological activities, such as hallucinations, delusions, obvious language disorders or abnormal behavior, it indicates a psychological disorder.

3. Social adaptation standard: because human behavior and the environment are coordinated and consistent with each other. Therefore, mentally normal people are always able to adjust their needs, motivations, emotions and desires to adapt to social requirements such as social norms, ethics, customs and habits. Under normal circumstances, an individual's behavior can adapt to the environment and participate in transforming the environment; his behavior should conform to social norms and act in accordance with social requirements and moral norms; therefore. Human behavior is always in harmony with the environment. If an individual exhibits social maladjustment, it may reflect that his psychological activities are abnormal. However, people's social adaptation behavior and ability are affected by factors such as time, place, culture, and customs, so the social adaptation standards should be determined according to specific circumstances.
