How to detect pancreatic cancer early

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most malignant tumors, known for its difficulty in curing and high mortality rate. The disease was first reported in clinical literature in 1888. In 1935, the famous American surgeon Whipple first reported the success of pancreaticoduodenectomy, thus establishing the surgical treatment of pancreatic cancer.

However, not everyone is suitable for surgical treatment. If the cancer is discovered late and the lesion is deep, surgery is basically impossible. Even if it can be removed surgically, there is no guarantee that pancreatic cancer will not recur. It is indeed a terrible disease.

Therefore, how to achieve early detection of pancreatic cancer is something we must master.

Generally, patients with pancreatic cancer will experience symptoms such as indigestion, upper abdominal pain, and loss of appetite, which are almost the same as the symptoms of stomach problems. If the pancreatic cancer lesion is in the head of the pancreas, the patient will experience jaundice, which is very similar to the symptoms of hepatitis, but the pancreatic duct and bile duct can be found to be enlarged, so it can still be detected. If pancreatic cancer grows in the tail of the pancreas, the symptoms are more obscure and can usually only be discovered in the late stage.

Therefore, early detection of pancreatic cancer is actually difficult. In addition to some other diseases, such as chronic pancreatic cancer, it may develop into pancreatic cancer. The cancer-causing rate of pancreatitis with calcification is relatively high. The incidence of pancreatic cancer in diabetic patients is about 4 times higher than that of normal people. Therefore, the above patients should go to the hospital for regular check-ups, and if lesions occur, they should be treated as soon as possible.

In addition, for those who smoke for a long time, their incidence rate is much higher than normal people, because certain carcinogens in tobacco need to be excreted through the liver, and will also stimulate the pancreatic duct and cause pancreatic cancer. Such people should also pay attention to the prevention of pancreatic cancer, and should undergo examination if they feel unwell.

The so-called discomfort refers to the symptoms described above. If late-stage symptoms such as low back pain occur, treatment will be very difficult, so early detection is important.
