Beware of various skin diseases turning into skin cancer

Skin cancer is a malignant tumor with a relatively low incidence in my country. Among the various types of skin cancer, some are malignant tumors that develop directly, while others are skin cancers that evolve from benign skin lesions. Some of these skin lesions are more obvious, while others take a long time to develop slowly and are hidden, so they should be given sufficient attention.

Precancerous skin diseases

Precancerous skin diseases refer to lesions that do not have obvious malignant changes but can easily develop into malignant skin tumors. There is no absolute boundary between benign and malignant tumors. The two can transform into each other, which is a process of quantitative change leading to qualitative change.

Common precancerous skin diseases include actinic keratosis and keratoderma.

Actinic keratosis is a precancerous lesion caused by long-term sunlight exposure. It can also be caused by ionizing radiation, thermal radiation, ultraviolet rays, asphalt, tar, etc. If the disease is not treated, about 20% of patients may develop into squamous cell carcinoma.

Skin horns are clinical morphological diagnoses, often occurring on the basis of certain skin diseases, such as common warts, seborrheic keratosis, keratoacanthoma, porokeratosis, etc. The abnormal increase of keratin in the lesion forms a protruding keratotic lesion. When the course of the disease is slow and redness, bleeding and infiltration appear at the base, one should be alert to the possibility of malignant transformation.

Chronic skin diseases

Chronic skin diseases such as chronic ulcers, lupus erythematosus, and atrophic lichen sclerosus can induce skin cancer. In addition, long-term and repeated occurrence of skin papules or nodules, dryness, roughness, desquamation, pigmentation, atrophy, etc., should all alert you to the occurrence of this disease.
