What are the typical complications of liver cancer?

In my country, the incidence of liver cancer is increasing every year. Because the early symptoms of liver cancer are not very obvious, many patients miss the best time for treatment and delay the disease. As the disease progresses, liver cancer patients will have some complications. In clinical treatment, we must first master these common complications so that we can discover and treat them in time and achieve the greatest treatment effect.

Complication 1: bloody pleural effusion

When liver cancer develops to a certain stage, it can directly infiltrate or metastasize through the bloodstream or lymph nodes to cause bloody pleural effusion, which is common on the right side of the liver lobe.

Complication 2: Gastrointestinal bleeding

Patients with liver cirrhosis or liver cancer with portal vein or hepatic vein may suffer from esophageal or gastric varicose vein rupture and bleeding due to portal hypertension.

Complication 3: Secondary infection

Due to the long-term consumption of the tumor, the resistance of liver cancer patients is weakened, especially after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the white blood cell count decreases, and various infections are very likely to occur, such as

Pneumonia, intestinal infection, etc.

Complication 4: Rupture and bleeding of liver cancer nodules

Due to the necrosis and liquefaction of liver cancer tissue, the tumor may rupture spontaneously or rupture and bleed due to external force. In mild cases, the bleeding will stop after a few days and the pain will gradually subside.

Complication 5: Hepatic encephalopathy

Hepatic encephalopathy is often a complication of liver cancer in the terminal stage, accounting for 34.9% of the causes of death, and should be taken seriously.

Through the above introduction, I believe everyone has a certain understanding of several typical complications of liver cancer. Once the above complications occur, you must go to the hospital for treatment immediately and not delay the disease.
