Which diseases should be differentiated from laryngeal cancer

Laryngeal cancer is a malignant tumor of the larynx. Typical symptoms of laryngeal cancer include: 1. Hoarseness; 2. Throat pain; 3. Ear pain; 4. Difficulty breathing; 5. Coughing up blood in sputum; 6. Neck lumps. The above six symptoms can also appear in other diseases of the larynx. Once abnormalities occur, you must not be careless and should go to the hospital for a detailed examination immediately to rule out the possibility of laryngeal cancer.

Based on the various typical symptoms of laryngeal cancer mentioned above, let’s take a look at the symptoms of the following two laryngeal diseases that have similar symptoms to laryngeal cancer, so that you can distinguish and identify them:

1. Nodular laryngitis

The clinical manifestations of nodular laryngitis are small intermittent hoarseness, which is lighter in the morning and worse at night. It is prone to occur at the junction of the anterior and middle 1/3 of the vocal cords, dryness and slight pain in the throat, and increased laryngeal secretions. There are symmetrical mucosal nodules on the free edge, which are the size of rice grains, edematous, smooth in surface, and wide in base. The main methods of congestion treatment are rest to reduce voice, nebulization inhalation, ultrashort wave physical therapy, and appropriate amount of antibiotic treatment.

2. Laryngeal tuberculosis

Patients with laryngeal tuberculosis have varying degrees of sore throat, and tuberculosis lesions can be seen in most lungs. The lesions are pink or pale edematous, granular, covered with purulent secretions, and often accompanied by shallow ulcers. The posterior joint is a common site for laryngeal tuberculosis. Treatment is mainly anti-tuberculosis treatment, and biopsy cytology and secretion smears are helpful for diagnosis.
