Risk factors for colorectal cancer

Intestinal cancer is a common tumor disease that brings many harms to the patient's health. Only by understanding the risk factors of intestinal cancer and avoiding them, and actively preventing them, can we stay away from intestinal cancer. The risk factors for intestinal cancer are as follows:

1) Age: Most patients develop the disease after the age of 50, and as age increases, the time that various pathogenic factors stimulate the large intestinal mucosa also increases.

2) Genetic background: Familial adenomatous polyposis and hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer are both caused by mutations in the corresponding genes. These patients not only have a significantly increased risk of developing the disease, but also develop it at a younger age.

3) Family history: If a person's first-degree family member has had colorectal cancer, his risk of developing the disease in his lifetime is 8 times higher than that of the general population. About 1/4 of new patients have a family history of colorectal cancer.

4) History of colorectal polyps: Most colorectal cancers develop from small precancerous lesions, among which villous adenomatous polyps are more likely to develop into cancer, with a chance of malignancy of about 25%.

5) History of inflammatory colon diseases: Certain colon diseases, such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, may increase the risk of colorectal cancer, and the risk of colon cancer is 30 times that of ordinary people.
