Pathological characteristics of different types of prostate cancer

In clinical practice, prostate cancer is mainly divided into four pathological types: latent cancer, incidental cancer, occult cancer and clinical cancer. Each type has different characteristics, and understanding its characteristics is of great significance for the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Latent prostate cancer

Latent cancer can occur in any part of the prostate, but is more common in the central and peripheral areas, and is often a well-differentiated adenocarcinoma. The incidence of latent prostate cancer in my country is about 34%. Statistical studies have shown that the incidence of latent prostate cancer may be related to environmental and genetic factors.

Incidental prostate cancer

The histological manifestations of incidental cancer are well-differentiated adenocarcinoma, mainly tubular adenocarcinoma and cribriform adenocarcinoma, and a few are poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. The incidence of incidental prostate cancer abroad is 10% to 30%, and the domestic incidence is reported to be around 5%.

Occult prostate cancer

Serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) and prostatic acid phosphatase levels are elevated in patients with occult prostate cancer. PSA and/or PAP immunohistochemical staining of biopsy tissues are positive.

Clinical prostate cancer

In most patients with clinical prostate cancer, prostate nodules can be felt through digital rectal examination, and ultrasound examination shows that the prostate nodules have irregular shapes, uneven echoes and low echoes.
