I blush at night

Some people may have sensitive skin, and they will blush when they encounter obvious changes in hot and cold air. This is normal, but some people will blush at night. Different people have different skin sensitivities. Sometimes the reason for blushing may be because of using cosmetics and masks that are not suitable for them. So what should you do if you blush at night?

Blushing can be physiological or pathological. Some healthy people have better peripheral blood circulation, and their complexion will be rosy after a little activity; some people will blush when they are shy, angry or ashamed; some people may blush due to drinking; people living in the mountains, because the air is thinner, the body needs more red blood cells to absorb enough oxygen, and once the hemoglobin carried by red blood cells increases, the color of the face will be redder; some people blush due to menopause, some people blush due to systemic diseases. Such as hypertension, tuberculosis, lupus erythematosus, etc. Don't worry about physiological blushing. As for pathological blushing, you should consult a doctor.

From a medical point of view, blushing means that the face becomes redder more easily than other people due to changes in temperature or emotions, and the color is darker and lasts longer. There are blood vessels in the skin, which expand or contract due to nerve factors. Especially the cheeks are rich in capillaries, so the cheeks are more likely to turn red. If facial blushing only occurs in winter, it has more to do with temperature changes.

Generally speaking, heat causes blood vessels in the skin to dilate, causing facial flushing. Although cold causes blood vessels to constrict, when the temperature rises, the blood vessels will rebound and expand, causing blushing. But for some people, blushing may occur due to abnormal dilation of blood vessels in extremely cold temperatures. Clinical manifestations include filamentous, dot-like, star-shaped or flake-like patches on the face.

When the temperature difference is too great, such as when you go from a cold room to an air-conditioned room, and the temperature fluctuates between hot and cold, the capillaries lose their elasticity due to repeated contraction and expansion, which is reflected in the cheeks and nose, causing the cheeks to become red and stinging. In the early stages, the face will turn red and return to its original state immediately, but if it continues for a long time, the blood vessels will contract, lose their dilation function, and harden in an over-dilated state, making the face look red even at normal times. In severe cases, facial flushing may occur after lowering the head and then raising it again. This symptom is relatively mild in spring, summer and autumn, but becomes more severe in winter.

Doctors recommend that you avoid overly cold environments and drastic temperature changes in winter, and pay attention to moisturizing and keeping your skin warm. In particularly dry and hot indoor environments, if your face feels dry, you should replenish water in time and use warm water to wash your face. When you go outdoors, you can use a scarf or mask to prevent cold air from directly attacking your face, and avoid large differences in humidity and temperature, which will cause the dilated capillaries to contract rapidly when exposed to cold, forming red blood vessels. People with a history of facial frostbite should rub their faces frequently in winter to promote blood circulation.

In terms of diet, doctors say that people who blush easily should eat less foods that increase vasodilation, such as coffee, tea, cola and other caffeinated foods. Supplementing with some B vitamins can also help nerve repair and have a calming effect. In addition, you should avoid sun exposure, alcohol, spicy and irritating food, and avoid anger, tension or excessive excitement, as these will contribute to facial blushing.
