Ribs are a very important part of the human skeleton. Some babies are born with rib deformities, which need to be corrected in time. At the same time, young parents should be reminded that the baby's ribs may be different from those of adults, so you must not make blind judgments about whether the baby's ribs are deformed. If you find anything abnormal, you should go to the hospital for examination. So what do normal baby ribs look like? What do normal ribs look like for a baby? The ribs of children will not be affected. Under normal circumstances, they are very even and symmetrical on both sides. Be sure to take your baby for regular check-ups. The doctor will tell you if there are any abnormalities. Generally speaking, it will not protrude, just like adults. If it protrudes and turns outward, it may be due to calcium deficiency, and the child needs to be exposed to the sun to supplement calcium. There are two reasons for rib valgus: one is the normal physiological development process of the baby, and the other is a simple rib developmental deformity. The vast majority of children suffer from rib valgus which belongs to the former condition. As they grow and develop, the valgus will gradually disappear and become closer to that of adults. Many people think that rib valgus is a clinical manifestation of rickets, but in fact, rib valgus is not a manifestation of rickets, commonly known as "calcium deficiency". Rickets is also called "vitamin D deficiency rickets". Therefore, most of the babies who are commonly referred to as "calcium deficient" are not really calcium deficient, but rather lack vitamin D which helps calcium absorption. Vitamin D is like a key that can open the door to calcium absorption in the baby's body. Once vitamin D is deficient, no matter how much calcium there is in the body, it cannot be absorbed and utilized by the body. I don't know if my child sweats easily, sleeps restlessly, wakes up easily, has bald spots on the back of his head, and lags behind his peers in growth and development. Generally, calcium deficiency in children will cause delayed bone development, which will cause abnormal chest development under the traction of muscles. In this case, it is recommended to go to the hospital to check the child's trace elements so that you can know whether he is calcium deficient. Pay attention to proper feeding, add complementary foods at the right time, and get more sun to promote calcium absorption so that he can slowly return to normal. Many parents say that their baby’s ribs are turned outward. Is it due to calcium deficiency or rickets? Do I need calcium supplement? In fact, there is no connection between the two. First of all, as mentioned earlier, mild rib valgus is a physiological phenomenon, while rickets and calcium deficiency cause beaded changes in the ribs. The two are not the same. For normal children, regular vitamin D supplementation and adequate sunbathing will generally not cause calcium deficiency. With the increasing living standards today, rickets is even rarer, unless combined with other underlying diseases. |
