Things to note when measuring blood pressure

For patients with hidden dangers of hypertension, they need to measure their blood pressure every day to reflect the blood pressure status in the body. For families with people with high blood pressure, they can buy a blood pressure measuring device to measure blood pressure at home. Because measuring blood pressure is very simple compared to other measurement methods, but in the process of measuring blood pressure, you also need to pay attention to the following aspects in order to achieve an accurate indicator.

1. The blood pressure monitor should be checked regularly to maintain its accuracy. At the same time, the blood pressure monitor should be placed on a stable place. It is best not to turn it upside down or shake it frequently.

2. Do not inflate the cuff too high or too hard. After use, isolate the air in the cuff and roll it up. The rubber ball should be placed in a fixed position in the box to prevent it from being broken by the glass. If some sphygmomanometers have a switch under the mercury column, turn off the switch after use. If bubbles appear in the mercury column, remember to adjust or repair it. Do not measure with bubbles in it.

3. If you find that the blood pressure monitor cannot hear clearly or is abnormal, you should retest. The measurement should be made after the mercury column drops to the "0" point. If necessary, both upper arms can be measured for reference.

4. When measuring, closely observe the person measuring the blood pressure, and try to do four things: set the time, set the location, set the body position, and set the sphygmomanometer.

5. If the other person is a hemiplegic patient, measurement should be made on the healthy arm.

6. Try to prevent errors caused by the sphygmomanometer itself, such as low blood pressure due to insufficient mercury; the ventilation holes at the upper end of the mercury column are blocked, making it difficult for air to enter and exit, which will cause low systolic pressure and high diastolic pressure.

7. In order to avoid the influence of blood flow, when measuring blood pressure, the "0" point of the sphygmomanometer should be at the same level as the brachial artery and heart. If the limbs are too high, the measured blood pressure will often be low; if the position is too low, the measured blood pressure will be high.
