Results Microscopic examination of 85 urine specimens that were all negative by urine analyzer showed 3-10/HP white blood cells (10.6%) and 1-3/HP red blood cells (4.7%). The detection of 281 urine specimens with occult blood (++)-(++++) by the analyzer revealed that the positive level of occult blood was not synchronized with the red blood cells under microscopic examination, and 1.4% of the occult blood-positive specimens were actually yeast under microscopic examination. Conclusion The quality of urine examination can be improved only by combining urine analyzer with urine sediment microscopy. |
