What will be checked when donating blood

Blood donation is a form of loving contribution advocated by many people. When a patient undergoes surgery in a hospital, a large amount of blood is often needed to maintain the patient's vital signs, but the hospital does not have enough blood banks. At this time, blood donations are needed from the society. However, not all people are suitable for donating blood. Blood donation also has many requirements for the donors. So what aspects will you check first when you want to donate blood?

1. What diseases will be checked when donating blood?

Blood donation can detect blood-borne infectious diseases.

According to regulations in our country, blood donations must undergo four tests: hepatitis B virus surface antigen, hepatitis C virus antibody, HIV antibody, and syphilis serology. If all the results are negative, the project can be passed. If the test result is positive, you are not allowed to donate blood.

Therefore, voluntary blood donation can only be confirmed through examination whether there are blood-borne infectious diseases, such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, AIDS, etc., and other diseases cannot be checked.

2. What are the blood tests for blood donors?

Blood specific gravity screening, copper sulfate method: greater than 1.052 for men and greater than 1.050 for women.

Blood typing: ABO blood type must match positive and negative typing. Rh(D) typing should be performed in areas where conditions permit or in areas with a high Rh negative rate.

Liver function test: Taking alanine aminotransferase activity as an indicator, the level measured by the Reitman method should be less than 25 units. If this indicator is unqualified, you should not donate blood, but it does not mean that there must be problems with liver function.

Blood infectious disease examination: Check four items including hepatitis B virus surface antigen, hepatitis C virus antibody, HIV antibody, and syphilis serology test. Anyone who tests positive is not allowed to donate blood.
