When we check liver function or jaundice, we usually check the bilirubin level. Total bilirubin is divided into direct bilirubin and indirect bilirubin, and different values reflect different conditions. Some people find that their direct bilirubin is relatively high during relevant examinations and they don’t understand the condition of their body. So, what is the cause of extremely high direct bilirubin? Let’s take a look below. An increase of about 1umol/L in direct bilirubin has no clinical significance. It is too low. Any factor that can cause red blood cell destruction can cause a slight increase in bilirubin. If the blood is drawn too quickly or the blood sample is shaken, cholestyramine or choleretic drugs can be taken for treatment. Most of the bilirubin in the body comes from hemoglobin released by the lysis of aging red blood cells, including indirect bilirubin and direct bilirubin. Indirect bilirubin is transported to the liver through the blood and converted into direct bilirubin through the action of liver cells. Increased bilirubin is seen in: (1) Liver diseases: acute icteric hepatitis, acute yellow liver necrosis, chronic active hepatitis, cirrhosis, etc. (2) Extrahepatic diseases: hemolytic jaundice, incompatible blood transfusion reaction, neonatal jaundice, cholelithiasis, liver cancer, pancreatic head cancer, etc. Therefore, you should actively look for the cause of your high bilirubin before taking further action. If it is convenient, you can go to the hospital for examination and consider specialist testing. As the saying goes: three parts treatment, seven parts care. Therefore, you should arrange your diet properly, live a regular life, be in a good mood, pay attention to the combination of movement and rest, and never seek medical treatment indiscriminately or abuse drugs when you are sick. Please note the following: 1. The diet should be light, such as bean products, fish, vegetables, fruits, etc., which contain a lot of vitamins A, B, C, E, have good antioxidant function and are easy to digest and absorb. 2. It is advisable to eat more seafood, mushrooms, sesame seeds, walnuts, dates, lean meat and animal liver. 3. Avoid drinking alcohol and eating too much sweets. 4. It is advisable to rest in bed for 1-2 hours after a meal to ensure that the liver gets adequate blood supply, which is beneficial for liver cell repair. |
