Is it useful to apply coarse salt hot compress to the cervical spine?

Due to the increasing work pressure, many young white-collar workers are affected by cervical spondylosis. We still need to understand the methods to relieve cervical spondylosis, such as massaging the cervical acupoints and using coarse salt to hot compress the cervical spine. Using coarse salt to hot compress the cervical spine can relieve cervical spondylosis because the heat can relax the muscles and bones of the cervical spine and allow blood to circulate better, thereby alleviating cervical spondylosis.

Cervical spondylosis, also known as cervical spondylosis, is a general term for cervical osteoarthritis, hypertrophic cervical spondylitis, cervical radiculitis, and cervical disc herniation. It is a disease based on degenerative pathological changes. It is mainly caused by long-term strain of the cervical spine, bone hyperplasia, or herniated disc, ligament thickening, which leads to compression of the cervical spinal cord, nerve roots or vertebral arteries, resulting in a series of clinical syndromes of functional disorders. It manifests as vertebral instability and loosening; nucleus pulposus protrusion or extrusion; bone spur formation; ligament hypertrophy and secondary spinal canal stenosis, etc., which stimulate or compress adjacent nerve roots, spinal cord, vertebral arteries, cervical sympathetic nerves and other tissues, causing a series of symptoms and signs.

Self-treatment of cervical spondylosis:

1. Support your head

When you are tired at work, you will feel that the muscles in your neck are obviously tense, which can easily lead to neck pain and stiffness. At this time, you can sit at the table, lean forward, put your elbows on the table, support your forehead with your palms, and keep it for about five minutes.

2. Lifting Exercise

Lifting exercises are more suitable for white-collar workers who sit in the office for a long time. Sit relaxed in a chair, place your hands on the edge of the chair, support your body, lift your legs and hips up, hold this position for five seconds, and repeat.

3. Contract your shoulders

The patient needs to sit upright with the spine straight. Then, place your hands on your legs, pull your shoulders back, relax after fifteen seconds, and repeat several times.

4. Aromatherapy

If you have neck pain due to long-term work, you can put rice, cinnamon and a few spoons of sesame oil in a bag and tie it tightly. Then heat it in the microwave for two minutes and place it on the sore area.

5. The right pillow

Chronic strain is a common cause of cervical spondylosis, especially when the human body is sleeping, it has a more direct relationship. Therefore, be sure to choose a pillow with appropriate height, softness and hardness.

The key is that patients need to develop good living habits and pay attention to the combination of work and rest.

6. Hot compress with coarse salt: Apply hot compress with salt bag to the waist, knees, shoulders, abdomen and other parts of the body, which can play a health care and therapeutic role. Hot salt has strong thermal insulation and permeability. It can not only penetrate heat into the body, but also absorb the disease and cold air out of the body. It can relax muscles, dilate capillaries, increase sweat gland secretion, promote blood circulation, and increase the body's metabolic rate. It has the effects of warming the meridians and activating the collaterals, relieving inflammation and cold, and relieving pain. It is effective for paralysis, back pain, arthritis, chronic stomach pain, diarrhea, neuralgia and chills. Especially after cupping, applying a hot salt bag to the affected area immediately can often achieve twice the result with half the effort, thus helping to strengthen the body's resistance and eliminate evil, and promoting the patient's recovery.
