High-risk groups for pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic cancer is a common malignant tumor that occurs in middle-aged and elderly people over 40 years old, mostly male patients. 90% of patients die within one year after diagnosis, and the five-year survival rate is only 1% to 3%. The high-risk groups for pancreatic cancer are:

1. Aged >40 years, with non-specific upper abdominal discomfort;

2. Family history of pancreatic cancer;

3. Patients with sudden onset of diabetes, especially atypical diabetes, who are over 60 years old, lack family history, are not obese, and quickly develop insulin resistance. 40% of pancreatic cancer patients have diabetes at the time of diagnosis;

4. Patients with chronic pancreatitis. Currently, chronic pancreatitis is considered to be an important precancerous lesion in a small number of patients, especially chronic familial pancreatitis and chronic calcific pancreatitis.

5. Ductal papillary mucinous tumor is also a precancerous lesion;

6. Patients with familial adenomatous polyposis;

7. Patients who have undergone distal subtotal gastrectomy for benign lesions, especially those who have undergone surgery for more than 20 years;

8. High-risk factors for pancreatic cancer include long-term smoking, heavy drinking, and long-term exposure to harmful chemicals.
