Acupoints for relieving asthma

Many diseases have symptoms of wheezing, the most typical one is asthma. The characteristics of this type of disease are that it is easy to occur and is very harmful. There are many treatments for asthma, but this disease is not easy to treat. In addition to controlling it with medication, many patients are concerned about acupoints that can relieve asthma, hoping to use more ways to treat this disease. Let’s take a closer look at these acupoints.

Tiantu point is a major acupuncture point on the Ren meridian of the human body, and is the meeting point of the Ren meridian and Yinwei meridian in the throat. Stimulation of the Tiantu point can spread along the Ren meridian, up to the nasal orifices, down to the chest and diaphragm, and can also infiltrate other meridians through the skin, collaterals, etc., to regulate the balance of qi and blood as well as yin and yang in other meridians.

Location: In the center of the sternal notch, between the left and right sternocleidomastoid muscles, with the sternohyoid muscle and sternothyroid muscle being the deep layers.

Method of acupoint location: Tiantu point is located on the neck. When locating the point, you can adopt a supine sitting position. It is located on the anterior midline, between the two clavicles, in the center of the suprasternal fossa.

Main diseases treated: cough, bronchial asthma, bronchitis, goiter, chest pain and other symptoms as well as sore throat.

Acupoint health care: Tiantu point belongs to the Ren meridian. Regular massage of this point has the effects of clearing the lungs and relieving asthma, clearing the throat and opening the voice, eliminating blockages and resolving stagnation, and promoting the flow of Qi. In addition, the neck is the "main transportation artery" of the human body and is widely related to the twelve main meridians and the Ren and Du meridians of the whole body. Except for the Hand Jueyin Pericardium Meridian and the Foot Taiyang Bladder Meridian, other meridians either pass through the throat, follow the throat, or enter the throat during their courses. It can be seen that it is very important to take care of this acupoint. The maintenance method is as follows:

Acupressure: Press and rub the Tiantu point with the tip of your index finger for 2 minutes with appropriate force, until you feel a slight soreness and swelling. Alternatively, press the Tiantu point for 10-15 seconds each time, then press again after a few seconds, and repeat this 3-5 times.

Pushing and rubbing method: Place the thenar of one hand on your chest, and place the other hand on top of it. Stack the two hands, and then push and rub up and down the Tiantu point for about 3 minutes, until you feel warmth. Be careful not to use too much force.

Acupoint application method: Cut the analgesic plaster into appropriate size and apply it on the Tiantu acupoint once a day. It can treat chronic pharyngitis, reduce pharyngeal congestion, and eliminate throat pain.

Health tips:

1. Press the Tiantu point to relieve recurrent pharyngitis. The Tiantu point connects to the throat above, the trachea in the middle, and the lung meridian below. Massaging the Tiantu point can unblock meridian blockages, just like untying the knot around the throat, connecting the meridians of the throat, trachea, and lungs, promoting the proliferation of immune cells, and reorganizing healthy immune functions, thereby relieving the problem of recurrent pharyngitis. When massaging the Tiantu point, you can also gently pat the sternum, which is more beneficial for unblocking the meridians.

2. Easy to learn and do: rub the chest and flanks with your palms, and knead the Tiantu acupoint to prevent and treat asthma. Use your palms to massage the chest and flanks 20-30 times until you feel a slight warmth. Then, press and rub the Tiantu point. Tiantu point is a good point for treating asthma. At the same time, the use of medication can effectively relieve the wheezing and shortness of breath that occurs during an asthma attack. During the remission period of asthma, this method can also be used to strengthen the body and prevent asthma attacks.
