How long does it take to take a shower after cupping

How long does it take to take a shower after cupping

Cupping is actually a very relaxing thing, because during the process, people do not feel too much pain, which is less painful than taking medicine or getting injections. It is also very effective in excreting moisture from the body and recovering from some diseases. However, right after cupping, the pores are open, and you must wait a few hours before taking a shower to allow the pores to close completely to avoid counterproductive results.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that cupping is very suitable for people with severe cold and dampness, and pain in the neck, waist and back. Cupping is an external treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine and a type of physical therapy, also known as blood stasis therapy. Its mechanism of action includes warming, regulating, and improving metabolism. It has obvious therapeutic effects on people with severe cold and dampness, stiff neck, and low back pain.

Cupping precautions

When cupping, you should choose an appropriate body position and a part with plump muscles. Cupping is not suitable for areas with improper body position, movement, uneven bones, or excessive hair. At the same time, when cupping, you should choose a cup of appropriate size based on the area to be cupped. During operation, the can should be disinfected in advance and the movements must be clean and smooth so that the can can be pulled tightly and the adsorption is effective.

Cupping is not suitable for people with skin allergies, ulcers, edema, or areas where large blood vessels are distributed; it is also not suitable for people with high fever and convulsions, or the abdomen and lumbar sacral area during menstruation or during pregnancy. In addition, cupping is not suitable for patients with chronic diseases, those who are too hungry or too full, or those who are overly tired.

Cupping is not the darker the better

The color after cupping mainly depends on factors such as moisture in the body, length of cupping, doctor's technique, etc. The color after cupping includes purple-black, red, dark red, etc. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that if the skin is darker or purple after cupping, it means that the cold, dampness and blood stasis are quite severe; if the skin becomes slightly red and recovers quickly, it only means that the cold and dampness in the body are not severe.

Cupping will leave cupping marks, which will generally disappear in about 7 days. Do not cupping at the same place until the bruise from the previous cupping treatment has disappeared.

Cupping time is not the longer the better

What needs attention is the cupping time. If the force is strong, 5-10 minutes will be enough; if the force is weak, 15-20 minutes will be enough. After the extraction, I feel very comfortable and the expiration time can be extended appropriately, but it is better not to cause blisters. In terms of frequency, once a week is appropriate. For those with weak constitution, low immunity, or older age, the cupping time should not be too long and the force should not be too strong.

It is not advisable to take a bath immediately after cupping

Cupping is mainly used to remove dampness. It is best to take a shower and dry your body before cupping to prevent sweat from affecting the adsorption of the cupping jar. After the cupping, you may sweat a little, but your skin is in a very fragile state at this time. Be careful to avoid catching cold and keep the cupping area warm. Remember not to take a shower immediately after cupping to avoid infection or moisture entering the human body. Take a warm or hot shower after 4-5 hours. Don't take a cold shower, otherwise the external evil will invade again and damage your health.
