Is positive blood contagious?

Is positive blood contagious?

Generally, when we go to the hospital to check our health, we will have blood drawn, because blood can detect the normal condition of each function of our body. Once our blood is positive, it may be because of hepatitis B, which is an infectious disease and can be contagious. Therefore, when the blood is positive, you must cooperate with the doctor for treatment in time. Let us now introduce to you the meaning and infectiousness of positive blood.

1. Hepatitis B surface antibody:

First, let’s understand the five items of hepatitis B. The five items of hepatitis B are: hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb), hepatitis B core antigen (HBcAg), hepatitis B core antibody (HBcAb), and hepatitis B e antibody (HBeAb).

Hepatitis B surface antibody: It is an immune reactive antibody (protective antibody) produced by patients against hepatitis B surface antigen protein after they are infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV). It has a certain neutralizing effect on HBsAg.

2. What does a positive hepatitis B surface antibody mean?

A positive hepatitis B surface antibody means that when the hepatitis B virus invades the human body, it stimulates the human immune system to produce an immune response. The B lymphocytes in the human immune system secrete a specific immunoglobulin G, which is the surface antibody. It can specifically bind to the surface antigen and then work together with other immune functions of the human body to eliminate the virus and protect the human body from being infected by the hepatitis B virus. Therefore, the surface antibody is called a protective antibody. The presence of surface antibodies proves that a person has developed immunity.

Another situation is that antibodies are produced after receiving the hepatitis B vaccine. After being vaccinated with the hepatitis B vaccine, the body will also produce positive hepatitis B surface antibodies, which also indicates that the body has the ability to resist the hepatitis B virus. When attacked by the hepatitis B virus, the body will not be infected with hepatitis B. People can produce hepatitis B surface antibodies after natural infection or injection of hepatitis B vaccine; however, not all people can produce surface antibodies.

Hepatitis B surface antibody positive means:

1. A positive hepatitis B surface antibody test proves that there has been a history of hepatitis B virus infection and the body has developed a certain immunity.

2. After being vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine or receiving surface antibody immunoglobulin, the hepatitis B surface antibody test is positive.

3. Hepatitis B surface antibody is a protective antibody, and its appearance indicates specific immunity to HBV infection.

3. Things to note if your hepatitis B surface antibody is positive:

1. First, conduct a careful examination to evaluate the infectiousness and prognosis. Those who test positive for hepatitis B surface antigen for the first time should also have their serum alanine aminotransferase, hepatitis B core antibody immunoglobulin M, hepatitis B core antibody, hepatitis B E antigen, hepatitis B E antibody, and hepatitis B surface antibody checked at the same time. If conditions permit, hepatitis B virus deoxyribonucleic acid, deoxyribonucleic acid polymerase, etc. can also be detected.

2. Timely recheck. Those who test positive for HBsAg for the first time should be rechecked after 1-2 weeks. Those who test positive for both HBsAg and HBEAg should be rechecked every 3 months. Those who are only positive for HBsAg without HBEAg and are asymptomatic can be rechecked every 3 months to 1 year.

3. To prevent transmission, women who are double positive for HBsAg and HBsAg should pay special attention to menstrual hygiene, strictly prevent menstrual blood from contaminating their hands and other daily necessities, and should not touch other people's open wounds with bare hands. They should not work in childcare or catering industries. Pregnant women who insist on having children should ask their doctors to check their liver function and HBV markers regularly. Newborns should use high-titer hepatitis B immunoglobulin and be injected with hepatitis B vaccine.

Tip: Many people only know that a “+” in the five hepatitis B tests is not good, so they mistakenly believe that a positive hepatitis B surface antibody test is also a bad thing. In fact, this is not the case. Hepatitis B surface antibodies are protective antibodies of the human body. They are not only beneficial to the human body, but also can protect the human body from being invaded by the hepatitis B virus! Therefore, a positive hepatitis B surface antibody is normal.
