What's wrong with white spots on the skin

When it comes to the name vitiligo, many people are very confused and don't know what kind of disease it is, but when it comes to its other name, vitiligo, it is very well-known. The symptoms of this disease are closely related to its name, that is, white spots appear on a certain part of the body, and the white spots will increase as the disease progresses. So, what is white spot disease on the skin?

First, what is the cause of white spots on the skin? In the early stage of vitiligo, the number of white spots is limited, and the area of white spots does not spread. They are mainly concentrated in a certain part of the body, generally in the nerve segments of the human body. As the disease worsens, the number of white spots will gradually increase, and adjacent white spots will begin to merge and then connect into large areas of white spots. At this time, vitiligo turns into generalized vitiligo and has entered a stage where treatment is relatively difficult. It is very normal for spots to appear on human skin, but if the spots on the skin appear white, you need to pay more attention.

Second, although vitiligo will directly affect the color of hair in the white spot area and make the hair around the white spots turn white, in the early stages of vitiligo, this situation will only occur in a very small number of patients with rapidly progressing disease. Generally speaking, since the appearance of white spots will directly affect the normal secretion of melanin inside the skin, the pigment band around the white spots will become darker. Therefore, in the early stages of the disease, the area of the white spots is smaller, the color is lighter, and there are obvious dividing lines between the white spots. The hair in the damaged area generally does not change in color, but begins to dry out.

What happens when vitiligo appears on the skin? As the disease continues to worsen, the color of the white spots will change through four stages: light white, cloud white, pure white, and porcelain white. In the early stages of the disease, white spots mainly appear light white. If a patient has fair skin, it is generally difficult to notice changes in their skin. However, in the early stages of vitiligo, the white spots have an obvious characteristic, that is, the skin around the white spots will be slightly raised, and a circle of dark red will appear at the edge of the white spots. Except in very rare cases where the condition worsens severely, this symptom generally lasts for a few weeks. If you find circles of dark red on your skin, you need to pay attention to it in time.
