A coffee pot is a container used to make coffee. People who are particular about the way they drink coffee usually buy a coffee pot specifically for making coffee. However, since the method and procedure of brewing coffee with a coffee pot is relatively complicated, most people will buy a simple coffee pot. The coffee brewed with a coffee pot is more mellow and rich than the coffee brewed with boiling water. So what is the method of using a simple coffee pot? The French Press The French press, also known as a cafetière or coffee plunger, is perhaps the most underrated way of brewing coffee. It's cheap, easy to use, and makes consistent coffee easily, so almost everyone has one at home. A unique feature of the French press is that it uses a metal filter to filter out the coffee grounds. The metal filter has a relatively large pore size, and many insoluble substances in the coffee will remain in the coffee liquid. This type of coffee has more coffee oil and some suspended fine powder, tasting heavier and having a more solid mouthfeel. The downside is that there is a lot of silt-like fine powder at the bottom of the cup, which can give you an unpleasant sandy feeling if you accidentally drink it. The brewing method introduced below is a French filter press coffee brewing method designed specifically for brewing a cup of coffee with a minimum amount of fine powder. With just a little more effort and more patience, you will get a great cup of coffee that will easily lead you to understand all the unique flavors and personalities of coffee. Using a French press to brew coffee can achieve a more even extraction. The metal filter allows smaller particles to remain in the coffee liquid and continue to contact the water, thereby brewing a cup of coffee with a full and solid taste. Water to powder ratio: 75 g/l. If you want to get a strength similar to that of hand-brewed coffee, I recommend brewing it with a higher water-to-powder ratio than usual. Grind size: Medium/granulated sugar-like. Many people grind their coffee very coarsely when using a French press, but I don't think that's the case unless you're using a grinder that creates a lot of super fine powder that makes the coffee bitter very quickly. 1. Weigh the coffee beans and grind them just before brewing. 2. Bring fresh drinking water, low in minerals and suitable for brewing coffee, to a boil. 3. Pour the ground coffee into a French press and place the whole pot on the scale. 4. Pour the correct amount of hot water, carefully watching the weight on the scale as you pour, until you reach a water-to-powder ratio of 75 g/l. Pour the water as quickly as possible to get all the coffee powder wet. 5. Soak the coffee powder and hot water for 4 minutes. During this time, the coffee powder will float to the surface to form a layer of coffee powder. 6. After 4 minutes, use a large spoon to stir the coffee grounds. This will cause most of the coffee grounds to sink to the bottom of the pot. 7. At this time, fine foam with a little suspended coffee powder will still remain on the liquid surface. Use a large spoon to remove and discard. 8. Continue to wait for 5 minutes, as the coffee is still hot. As you wait, more coffee grounds and fine powder will sink to the bottom of the pot. 9. Insert the metal piston but do not press it down. The pressing action will create a vortex, which will stir up the fine powder residue that originally sank to the bottom. 10. Slowly pour the coffee into the cup through the metal filter. When the coffee is almost finished, there will be a little fine powder in the coffee. If you can accept not pouring all the coffee, you will drink a delicious and flavorful cup of coffee without any grounds. 11. Let the coffee cool down in the cup before enjoying. Many people recommend pouring out all of the coffee when you’re done steeping to avoid over-extraction by leaving the grounds steeping. If you prepare your coffee as described above, there should be no negative flavors added, so that is not necessary. |
