Can bile reflux be cured without taking medicine

People often experience vomiting. There are many reasons for vomiting, one of which is bile reflux gastritis. Bile reflux mainly refers to the bile secreted by the gallbladder not being excreted normally from the body, and flowing back into the esophagus through the stomach. Many people don't want to take medicine after suffering from bile reflux gastritis. So if a person suffers from bile reflux gastritis, can he get better without taking medicine?

Misunderstandings in the Treatment of Bile Reflux Gastritis

1. Think you don’t need to take medicine

When symptoms occur, most patients believe that they can control the symptoms by changing their diet and lifestyle rather than going to the hospital for treatment or taking medication. Indeed, the mental stress caused by changes in dietary structure and fierce competition has become one of the reasons for the increased incidence of gastroesophageal reflux disease. Adjusting diet and lifestyle is indeed very important for patients with this disease. However, for the treatment of the disease, it is far from enough to change the diet and lifestyle of chronic diarrhea alone, and it is necessary to rely on medication.

2. Take over-the-counter medications on your own

For patients with reflux gastritis, the goals of drug treatment include two aspects: one is to relieve symptoms, such as heartburn, acid reflux, etc., and cure esophagitis; the other is to reduce the risk of complications.

Many people go to the pharmacy to buy "stomach medicine" for treatment out of convenience and based on experience. These medicines may temporarily relieve symptoms such as heartburn to a certain extent, but they cannot completely and effectively treat the disease. Patients are likely to delay diagnosis and treatment due to insufficient knowledge and irregular medication. If they blindly buy stomach medicine from the beginning, it will pose a hidden danger to their health.

3. Stopping medication without doctor’s consent

Although some patients have chosen the right treatment, they may mistakenly believe that the disease is cured if they feel their symptoms are alleviated during the treatment. However, the symptoms will recur after stopping the medication for a period of time. Repeated discontinuation of the medication can easily lead to worsening of the condition.

Bile reflux gastritis attention issues

1. Diet: Pay attention to eating small meals frequently and eating a low-fat diet to reduce the frequency of reflux symptoms after eating. On the contrary, a high-fat diet can promote the release of cholecystokinin from the small intestinal mucosa, which can easily lead to reflux of gastrointestinal contents.

2. Weight: Overweight people should lose weight, because the increased abdominal pressure in obese people can promote gastric reflux, especially in the supine position. Therefore, they should actively lose weight to improve reflux symptoms.

3. Lying position: Raising the head of the bed by 15 to 20 cm is an effective way to reduce nocturnal gastric reflux.

4. Change bad sleeping posture: Some people like to raise their upper arms or put them under their heads when they sleep. This can cause the diaphragm to rise, increasing the pressure in the stomach and causing the gastric juice to flow back upward.

5. Lifestyle habits: Try to reduce activities that increase intra-abdominal pressure, such as excessive bending over, wearing tight clothes, and tightening belts.

6. Avoid drinking and smoking: Nicotine in tobacco can reduce the pressure of the lower esophageal sphincter, causing it to relax and aggravate reflux. Smoking can also reduce blood flow to the esophageal mucosa, inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins, reduce the body's resistance, and make it difficult to recover from inflammation. The main component of alcohol is ethanol, which not only stimulates gastric acid secretion, but also relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, which is one of the causes of gastroesophageal reflux.
