Wolfberry is a common health product nowadays. Many people add some wolfberry when soaking water or cooking soup, which can increase the nutritional value of tea and soup. Of course, there are many places where wolfberries are produced. There are certain differences in the varieties and specific effects of wolfberries produced in different places. 1. The role of wolfberry

There are seven varieties of wolfberry, namely Ningxia wolfberry, Zhongning wolfberry, yellow wolfberry, red wolfberry, calyx wolfberry, black wolfberry and Xinjiang wolfberry. It is a precious medicinal material and tonic. It is recorded in the Compendium of Materia Medica: "Wolfberry has the functions of nourishing the kidney and producing essence, nourishing the liver, improving eyesight and calming the mind, prolonging life and curing diseases.

2. Differences between wolfberry varieties

Ningxia wolfberry: Its quality leads the rest of the country and it has become the representative of wolfberry. Ningxia is known as the hometown of wolfberry.

Zhongning wolfberry: It is the best quality Ningxia wolfberry, with thin skin and thick flesh, pure and sweet taste, without bitterness or other strange smells.

Yellow fruit wolfberry: It is yellow when almost ripe, and orange-red or orange-yellow when ripe. The tip of the ripe yellow fruit wolfberry is pointed, flat or slightly concave, the fruit body is ridged, the tip is large and the base is slightly smaller, the flesh is thick and tastes sweet.

Red-branch wolfberry: produced in Nuomuhong, Qinghai. It is different from Ningxia wolfberry in that the old branches are brown-red and the corolla lobes are not hairy.

Lycium barbarum is produced in Shanxi, northern Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia and Gansu, on hillsides, roadsides or field edges at an altitude of 800-1500 meters. The berries are oblong or ovate-oblong, 5-8 mm long, with a small tip at the top. The seeds are orange-yellow and about 2 mm long. The flowering and fruiting period is from May to October.

Black wolfberry: distributed in alpine sand forests, salinized sand lands, river and lake shores, dry riverbeds, and desert riverside forests. It is a desert medicinal plant variety unique to western my country. It contains natural anthocyanins that have the function of scavenging free radicals and anti-oxidation. Its medicinal and health value is far higher than that of ordinary wolfberry.

Xinjiang wolfberry: distributed in northern Xinjiang, artificially cultivated. The berries are oval or ovoid-spherical, red when ripe, and the flowering and fruiting period is from June to September.

3. How to eat wolfberry

In our daily life, wolfberry is commonly used for making tea, boiling soup, cooking porridge, and for medicinal purposes.

For example: Soak in water: Put 6 grams of wolfberry in a cup with a lid, pour in boiling water at about 60 degrees, cover it and simmer for 10 minutes before drinking.
