Psychological characteristics of sentimental people

Psychological characteristics of sentimental people

Personality is innate to each person and is ultimately formed by the influence of people and things in the outside world. Corresponding to each personality, there are actually specific characteristics, and their mental states are also very different. For sentimental people, they tend to complicate a small matter and are more emotionally sensitive. Therefore, sentimental people should control their psychology and adjust it in time, and don't think too much.

Sentimentality, as a psychological disease, has increasingly affected people's emotional life and career. It can even be said that sentimentality has become the main reason why many people fail in the competition for survival.

Sentimentality is also classified as a mental illness

Sentimentality was first discovered as a disease in the second century AD, when the Greek physician and anatomist Galien found that some patients often fell into a state of extreme depression. They lamented the brevity of life, the impermanence of the world, and the loneliness of life. Even the falling leaves in front of the window would make them cry. These patients often die before other patients. Dr. Gallien then wrote about this phenomenon in his book and classified it as a mental illness.

Temperamental characteristics and symptoms of sentimental people

At one time, sentimentality, as an important trait of sensitive, fragile and imaginative people, became synonymous with artistic temperament. During the Renaissance in Europe, almost all writers and artists took pride in their sentimental sensitivity and called themselves "melancholy lunatics." They are a group of people who deserve sympathy, because even though they have created countless civilized heritages, they themselves are always in painful mental torture.

As society enters the material age, sentimental characters are increasingly incompatible with social development. As people working in ordinary professions, sentimental people find it difficult to rise to the top of the pyramid; even as artists, in the increasingly industrialized market operation, their mood swings become a stumbling block for their talents to be accepted by the world.

Sentimentality shakes your concentration and perseverance. Sentimental people experience joy and pain many times more intensely than ordinary people. Every time their emotions fluctuate between highs and lows, it is a test of their will. The taste of success and failure for them is much stronger than that experienced by ordinary people.

Sentimental people tend to indulge their emotions. They are high-spirited, ambitious, and blindly optimistic every time faced with new opportunities. However, when difficulties arise, they immediately become dejected and lose all their ambition. They give up and turn around in the face of strong psychological blows.

They will change jobs frequently, or simply stay at home unemployed, and the reasons are often: "The interpersonal relationships in this unit are too complicated", "The boss is too bad", "There is no room for me to perform." They often excuse themselves like this: "This is my personality, I am not suitable for doing this." Then they feel at ease with the helpless comfort of their relatives and friends.

Suggestion: People without perseverance and persistence cannot achieve success in their careers. Look at those people who sit on high places and enjoy the scenery. They all climb up step by step. If you start to blame yourself after falling, you would have fallen down the mountain long ago.

Being too romantic and unrealistic = having high expectations but poor skills. Mild sentimentality can be improved through self-concealment and restraint of emotions, but some severe patients are not so easy to self-treat.

These sentimental people almost all have the same characteristics: they love fantasy, have a romantic temperament, and like to pursue a poetic life. Usually they grow up in an environment with a strong cultural atmosphere, so they are influenced by what they see and hear, and become addicted to literature, film and television. They like to use their weekends to enjoy highbrow concerts and art exhibitions. In short, everything related to art has great appeal to them, and they also particularly admire romantic artistic temperament.

Further symptoms of sentimentality

If one simply possesses a romantic temperament, it cannot be called "morbid". Further symptoms of sentimentality are: prejudice against the secular world, preference for an elegant and otherworldly lifestyle, disgust with trivial and mundane details, and contempt for all utilitarian behavior.

They often fantasize about becoming the protagonist of a certain work of art, or making a stunning achievement, and when chatting with friends, the topics are mostly about these, but they are slow to take action, giving people the impression that they are all talk and no action. Despite his advanced age, he has a very poor psychological endurance and finds it difficult to accept the ugliness and darkness in life. He either takes an escapist approach or gets bored and hates it. If such a thing happens to oneself, the reaction will be particularly strong, and one will become extremely pessimistic or lost, and will find it unbearable to see the ugliness of the world and one's own ordinariness and vulgarity.
