Precautions for pressure cookers

Precautions for pressure cookers

The pressure cooker is an indispensable kitchen appliance in many family kitchens, and it has to be said that the pressure cooker is an invention that promotes the improvement of the material living standards of modern people. Because cooking food in a pressure cooker can effectively save cooking time, but you must be very careful when using a pressure cooker for the first time, because the pressure cooker uses the principle of air pressure to make food explode easily when cooking. So what are the precautions when using a pressure cooker?

How to use a pressure cooker

1. Cleaning

The lid, pot body and handle should be cleaned before each use to facilitate closing the lid. For a new pot that has not been used, the sealing ring is more elastic. You can add a small amount of cooking oil on the top and bottom of the pot to facilitate the initial opening and closing.

2. Add materials

Neither food nor water should exceed four-fifths of the pot's capacity, and neither water nor soup should be less than 400 ml.

3. Close the lid

(1) Before closing the cover, check whether the exhaust pipe is unobstructed, the anti-blocking cover is clean, the safety valve is intact, and the float moves up and down freely and is in the dropped position.

(2) Place the pot cover flat on the pot body to fix the pot body, and rotate the pot cover until the upper and lower handles are completely overlapped. At this time, it is moved to the working position and the float valve is completely exposed.

4. Heating

After closing the lid, you can heat it over high heat. When a small amount of steam is slowly discharged from the exhaust pipe, buckle the pressure limiting valve onto the exhaust pipe. Then the float will rise until the exhaust pipe "hisses" to exhaust. You can lower the oven temperature appropriately and keep exhausting until cooking is completed.

5. Cool down and release the air

After cooking, it can be cooled naturally at room temperature. If it is to be eaten immediately, forced cooling method (i.e. spraying or immersing it in water) can be used to reduce the pressure. After cooling, the pressure limiting valve can be gently lifted to release the remaining gas.

6. Open the lid

When no steam is discharged from the exhaust pipe and the float drops, you can open the lid in a counterclockwise direction. If the float does not fall, it proves that there is still pressure in the pot. At this time, the air pressure interlock device will act as a safety and the lid cannot be opened. Do not open the lid forcibly. Use chopsticks to press the indicator valve downwards to release the remaining air in the pot, then open the lid.

Precautions for using pressure cooker

1. Before each use, carefully check whether the exhaust hole of the pressure limiting valve is unobstructed (it can be cleared with a toothpick), and keep the anti-blocking cover clean;

2. Do not fill the pot too full with food. Generally, the amount of food should not exceed four-fifths of the height of the pot. For foods that are easy to expand (such as kelp, mung beans, corn, etc.), they should not exceed half of the pot body;

3. When closing the lid, align the closing marks on the lid and the pot body and make sure they fit completely. Stop when it is in place, don't use too much force to turn it over;

4. After closing the cover and heating, close the pressure limiting valve cover when a lot of steam is seen being discharged from the pressure limiting exhaust hole.
