What disease is sleepiness and thirst?

Many people always feel sleepy and want to sleep. Even if they get enough sleep at night, they still feel weak. Some people even feel thirsty. In fact, most of these symptoms come from several factors. For example, they are affected by reduced brain activity, severe lack of water in the body, excessive fatigue, overly dry weather and heating, which are the main problems that lead to thirst.

There are several reasons for drowsiness: one is lack of sleep; two is related to the body's acceptance of external stimulation; three is related to the season; four is unhealthy body and sleepiness.

The first situation is very common. When the body does not get enough rest, you will feel tired. At this time, you should have a good sleep and rest.

The second situation includes feeling sleepy when bored, feeling sleepy after dinner, etc. Under normal circumstances, sleep is caused by the biological clock and a neurotransmitter called adenosine. The biological clock promotes the pineal gland in the brain to release melatonin at night, which plays an important role in the production and maintenance of sleep; adenosine can inhibit neural activity, and it will slowly accumulate during daytime activities, and when it accumulates to a certain level, it will induce sleepiness.

Regarding the onset of sleepiness, current theories believe that it is caused by both the reduction of brain activity and the active control of specific brain areas. For example, the forebrain and brainstem control slow-wave sleep and rapid-wave sleep respectively. In addition, the activity of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems also contribute to sleep. When the sympathetic nervous system activity is inhibited, drowsiness is induced. When we have nothing to do or are engaged in activities that we are not interested in, on the one hand, external stimulation is reduced, and on the other hand, the desire to actively participate will also decrease. The common result is a decrease in brain activity. In addition, people often feel lazy and don't want to move, their physical activity decreases, and the excitability of their sympathetic nerves decreases. These are all signals telling the brain that it's time to rest. At the same time, the neurons that actively control sleep also begin to exert influence in a timely manner, and we start to yawn.

The third situation is related to the season, that is, people tend to feel sleepy in spring and summer. Human physiological activities are closely related to the natural environment and climate change. From winter to spring, from cold to warm, the physiological changes of the human body are without exception affected by the environment.

In winter, the human body is stimulated by the cold, the skin capillaries contract, the blood flow decreases, the sweat glands and pores are relatively closed, and the body's own heat dissipation is reduced to resist the severe cold. Due to the contraction of surface blood vessels, the blood flow of the whole body changes, and the blood flow and oxygen supply to the internal organs and the brain increase. Throughout the winter, the brain is in a "comfortable" environment with high blood flow and high oxygen supply. In spring, the weather becomes warmer, the skin blood vessels gradually expand, the blood flow increases, the blood flow of the whole body is reconfigured, and the blood and oxygen supply to the brain are relatively reduced. The brain tissue has to adapt itself to the environment by reducing excitability, and people become sleepy. In addition, as the temperature rises in spring, the human body's metabolism accelerates, the body's oxygen consumption increases, and the brain's oxygen supply decreases. Because the brain has developed a dependence on a high-oxygen environment in the winter and cannot adapt to the change in the environment in the short term, the brain's excitability is inhibited, and people feel sleepy. In addition, the spring breeze is gentle and the sun is bright. From the cold winter to the warm spring, the temperature stimulates the nerve center through reflex stimulation, making the human body feel comfortable, producing a hypnotic effect and increasing sleepiness.
