Why do I keep feeling sleepy after resection of gastric stump cancer?

Gastric remnant cancer refers to patients who have previously suffered from benign lesions such as chronic atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia and have undergone total or partial gastrectomy for various reasons. Symptoms of drowsiness after surgery are often considered to be related to surgical trauma, but may also be caused by reasons such as cerebral infarction.

1. Surgical trauma: Generally, the entire stomach needs to be removed for radical resection of residual gastric cancer, and drainage tubes and flushing fluid pipes are left in the abdominal cavity. This process will cause certain damage to the body, which may cause the above situation. It is usually a normal phenomenon and does not require special treatment;

2. Cerebral infarction: If there is a history of hypertension, it may lead to the formation of atherosclerotic plaques in the intracranial and extracranial arteries and gradually develop into a stenotic and occlusive state, which in turn affects the blood supply to the brain and causes hypoxia and necrosis of brain tissue, which may manifest as symptoms such as dizziness and headache. In severe cases, it may also be accompanied by impaired consciousness and hemiplegia of the limbs. It is recommended to follow the doctor's advice to use drugs such as enteric-coated aspirin tablets and clopidogrel bisulfate tablets to improve the condition. If necessary, craniotomy and other methods such as decompression should be used to relieve discomfort symptoms;

3. Other diseases: factors such as anemia, hypoglycemia, diabetic ketoacidosis, etc. can also induce this phenomenon, and corresponding measures should be taken according to the specific cause. For example, for such cases caused by anemia, you can eat iron-rich foods to help replenish blood, such as pork liver, spinach, etc.; for those caused by hypoglycemia, you should immediately supplement with glucose solution to correct the state of hypoglycemia.

It may also be related to factors such as brain tumors. If it lasts for a long time or is accompanied by obvious pain, you should go to the gastroenterology department of the hospital in time for a complete CT scan to confirm the diagnosis.
