Causes of Depression

Causes of Depression

Depression has existed since ancient times. What was called lovesickness in ancient times is actually a symptom of depression. With the development of modern society, the economy is getting better and better, but the pressure is also getting greater. Living under tremendous pressure for a long time without relief will lead to various symptoms of depression in the long run. If patients with depression do not receive treatment and relief for a long time, more serious consequences will occur.

Common symptoms of depression patients include low mood, negative and pessimistic emotions, and more serious ones may lead to suicidal tendencies. Therefore, modern men and women should be reminded to choose appropriate ways to relieve stress when they are under great pressure. Or let’s talk about why you suffer from depression.

To date, the cause of depression is still unclear, but it is certain that many biological, psychological and social environmental factors are involved in the pathogenesis of depression. Biological factors mainly involve genetics, neurochemistry, neuroendocrine, neural regeneration and other aspects; the psychological susceptibility factors closely related to depression are pre-morbid personality traits, such as depressive temperament. Encountering stressful life events in adulthood is an important trigger for the onset of clinically significant depressive episodes. However, these factors do not act alone. Currently, it is emphasized that the interaction between genetics and environmental or stress factors, as well as the timing of this interaction, has an important impact on the occurrence of depression.

Depression is mainly manifested by significant and persistent low mood, depression and pessimism. In mild cases, patients feel unhappy, have no sense of pleasure, and have a loss of interest. In severe cases, patients feel extremely distressed, pessimistic and hopeless, and feel that each day is like a year worse than death. The depressed mood of typical patients has a rhythmic change from heavier in the morning to lighter at night. On the basis of depressed mood, patients will have low self-esteem, and develop feelings of uselessness, hopelessness, helplessness and worthlessness, often accompanied by self-blame and guilt. In severe cases, they will have delusions of guilt and hypochondria, and some patients may experience hallucinations.

In addition to drug treatment, the most important thing for patients with depression is psychological treatment. Usually, patients with depression can listen to soft music to soothe their mood. It is recommended to walk more during rest time, and ask a few friends to exercise and climb mountains, use external forces to distract themselves, and relax their mental state. Generally speaking, maintaining a good attitude and mood is the most important way to treat depression.
