We all know that flowers are most beautiful when they are in full bloom, so many people hope to keep the moment when flowers bloom. Most of these people have a fragile heart. When they encounter beautiful things, they will do their best to preserve them. When roses are in full bloom, they will give people a feeling of incomparable beauty and are more worthy of preservation. So how should fresh roses be preserved? 1. Use vitamin C or sugar Break a small piece of vitamin C, crush it and put it into water or add a little white sugar to the water. Then cut a small section from the bottom of the rose stem and put it into a bottle of water with vitamin C or white sugar. Spray the petals and leaves of the roses with a watering can every day. This will better maintain the freshness of the roses. 2. Add appropriate amount of salt and sugar to the water Adding a small amount of sugar to clean water can make the rose buds in the vase open more brightly and extend the shelf life of the roses. The main function of adding salt to clean water to make it salt water is to prevent the growth of bacteria in the water. To a certain extent, it can maintain the flowers' better water absorption capacity, thereby maintaining the freshness of roses. However, we need to remind everyone that the concentration of salt water cannot be too high, generally not exceeding 5%, otherwise the effect will be counterproductive. 3. Use beer to keep fresh Add a little beer into the vase where you put the roses. Since beer itself contains ethanol, it can disinfect and preserve the cut parts of the rose branches. Also, since it contains sugar and other nutrients, it can provide the necessary nutrients to the branches and leaves of the roses, so that the roses can be preserved longer. 4. Use flower preservatives There are flower preservatives on the market. You can add an appropriate amount of flower preservatives to the solution for inserting roses. The use of chemicals can extend the shelf life of roses. If you don’t want to spend money on buying flower preservatives, here I will teach you how to make your own. Take a little dishwashing liquid and dissolve it in warm water to make a solution with a concentration of 2% to 4%. Immerse the cut rose branches in water to a depth of about 5 cm. This can extend the flowering period of roses by 2 to 3 times. 5. Make good use of tea Roses placed in vases are easy to wither. Generally speaking, the flowering period of roses placed in clear water is only three or four days before they slowly wither. If you use tea instead of water, it can not only delay the withering of roses, but also make the flowers brighter and more fragrant. It is better to have a stronger concentration of tea. Other tips: 1. Hot water method. Immerse the base of the flower in boiling water for about 1 second, or soak it in hot water for two minutes. Take it out and then immerse it in cold water. This can block the incision and prevent the juice from overflowing from the flower tissue. Mostly used for herbaceous flowers. 2. Pharmaceutical method. Adding an appropriate amount of flower preservative to the flower container can extend the flowering period of the flowers. In addition, adding appropriate amounts of boric acid, sulfur, salt, vitamins, salicylic acid, carbolic acid, etc. can help prolong the flowering period of cut flowers. In addition, using 1/3000 aspirin solution or 1/2000 potassium permanganate solution to plant iris can extend the flowering period by three to five days. 3. Injection method. Often used in aquatic flowers. The flower bases of aquatic flowers are very fragile. Once they leave their natural growing place, the flowers will easily wither. At this time, you can use a syringe to inject water into the flower stems to maintain the life of the flowers. 4. Incision surface expansion method. Cut the base of the branch obliquely or split it into two to four parts, and embed small stones to prop open the cracks; or use a hammer to crack the base to expand the water absorption surface. Mainly used for woody flowers such as magnolia, hydrangea, lilac, wisteria, azalea, etc. 5. Burning method. After roasting the end of the flower branch over a candle flame, soak it in alcohol for one minute, and then rinse it in clean water. This method is often used for flowers with latex overflowing from their stems, such as poinsettia, peony, chrysanthemum, etc. |
