Latin dance is also a kind of sports dance. It not only has the same highly entertaining and enjoyable effect as traditional dance, but also has the effect of strengthening the body. With the development of the economy, people pay more and more attention to the development of children's specialties. Many parents have also considered letting their children learn Latin dance. Therefore, before learning Latin dance, it is necessary to have a rough understanding of the teaching methods of Latin dance.

The International Latin Dance Association is divided into the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF), the World Standard Dance Confederation (WDC), the China Standard Dance Federation (CBDF), the China Dance Sport Federation (CDSF) and other associations.

Latin dance is a competitive sports dance, which is characterized by explosive power, strong style and skills. It has a lot of room for competitive sports dance and has now become an official competition event in the Asian Games. Latin dance officially applied to enter the Olympic Games on November 12, 2014 and is currently in the approval stage. The highest annual Latin dance event, WDSF, is held in different locations selected by member countries around the world. WDC will hold the Blackpool Dance Festival at a fixed location in the UK, which is deeply loved by people in Europe.

International Standard Latin dance is standardized, strict and standard. It is a competitive professional dance developed and standardized on the basis of Latin dance. There are five types of Latin dance: Rumba, Cha-Cha, Samba, Jive and Paso Doble. The five types of Latin dance each have their own style: the passion of samba, the liveliness of cha-cha, the grace of rumba, the strength of bullfighting, and the fun of cowboy. The difference in style lies mainly in the grasp of connotation.

They originated from different countries and regions, were standardized and developed in the UK in the early 20th century and quickly became popular in many countries. At that time, they were very popular in bars as a form of socializing and entertainment in social places. They were also very popular in Shanghai in the 1930s and 1940s. Later, after the unified standards of the Royal Association of Teachers of Dance in the UK, it became an international event and has continued to this day; among the more famous events are the UK "Blackpool" Dance Festival (78th), the UK International Championships (51st), the British International Open, the German World Dance Sport Championships, etc.

To specifically introduce Latin ballroom dancing, it is: Latin is divided into children and adults. If you have learned the Rumba and Cha Cha routines, you can get a bronze medal; if you have learned the Rumba, Cha Cha and Cowboy routines, you can get a silver medal; if you have learned the Rumba, Cha Cha, Cowboy and Samba routines, you can get a gold medal; if you have learned the Rumba, Cha Cha, Cowboy, Samba and Bullfight routines, you can get a gold star level. The next two and three levels of Venus will require time for cultivation. Of course, there are also people who only learn the routines of Rumba, Cha Cha, Cowboy and Samba and then take the Venus Level 1 exam. It depends on their personal qualifications. Of course, you must have a solid foundation before taking the exam.

Rumba and Cha Cha:

1. Stand with your feet naturally and easily close together, heels together, and toes open about 30 degrees.

2. Keep your chest up and spine straight, and do not shrug your shoulders.

3. Take a step to the side with either foot, straighten the other foot that supports your center of gravity, and move all your weight to it so that the pelvis can rotate to the side, so that you feel that the weight is on the heel of the supporting foot, and the knee should be locked backwards. As for the extent of pelvic movement, the principle is to not affect the posture of the upper body.

Samba and Jive:

1. Stand with your feet naturally and relaxedly close together, with your heels together and your toes open at about 45 degrees.

2. Keep your chest and back straight, and do not shrug your shoulders.

3. Take a step outward with one foot, straighten the other foot that supports the center of gravity, and move all your weight to this foot, so that the weight moves forward to the front of the foot while the heel still does not leave the floor, and the knee of the supporting foot should not be locked backwards. Exceptions are certain dance steps, such as the rock-and-roll, step-back and tuck steps in samba, and the chicken walk in jive.

Since there is no pelvic or hip movement in Spanish bullfighting, its postures differ from the above-mentioned Latin dances in the following ways:

1. The pelvis tilts slightly forward, and the upper body is upright and powerful.

2. The weight is evenly borne by both soles of the feet.

3. When the foot is straight, the knee should not be buckled backward. There is one exception, and that is Spanish dancing.

The directions below the diagram are used to illustrate the direction that the dancer's body is facing or facing away from in the dance studio. When we lead with our shoulders (walk sideways), it is very important to get the orientation correct.

Rumba, cha-cha and jive are non-progressive dances, while samba and Paso doble are progressive dances.

Rotation

When dancing Latin dance, the two feet are never parallel, unless they are brought together, then they are parallel. Most of the foot rotations like this are outward rotations, which means the foot rotates with all or part of the body weight. It is a "passive rotation" or a responsive movement of the foot. Because, in dancing, the amount of rotation of the feet and the upper body is often different. The most typical examples are the second step of the sweep in samba, the suppression of forward steps in rumba and cha-cha, and all backward steps in rumba and cha-cha.

Therefore, when finishing a dance step, if the center of gravity driven by the feet is different from the direction the body is facing, the rotation of the upper body, not the feet, is the standard. In the Rumba and Cha Cha, the backward step itself causes the foot that is carrying the center of gravity to rotate outward by about 1/16 of a circle. This kind of rotation, which is caused to stabilize the body's center of gravity, is called "passive rotation."
