What is the reason why teeth bleed easily

Bleeding teeth, also known as bleeding gums, is a common oral disease. Teeth are prone to bleeding and the gums are swollen. There will be a strong stinging sensation when eating raw, cold, sour or sweet foods. Bleeding teeth are generally considered to be a specific symptom of inflammation in the human body. In fact, many other diseases can also cause bleeding teeth.

Causes

Why do gums bleed? Most of the time, it is because the plaque (bacteria) on the tooth surface is not removed in time. The calcium ions in the saliva calcify the plaque and slowly form tartar. The gums in the corresponding area are stimulated by the tartar for a long time, the capillaries expand, the permeability increases, and the blood flow increases, causing the gums to turn bright red or dark red, the gingival papillae to swell, the stippling disappears, the edges become thicker, and the gums are no longer tightly attached to the tooth surface, causing the gums to become soft and fragile and the gingival sulcus to deepen. When brushing teeth or eating, the gums in this inflammatory state are prone to bleeding due to mechanical stimulation.

Bleeding gums is one of the common symptoms in dentistry. Generally speaking, bleeding gums are common in the early stages of periodontal disease - gingivitis. When bacteria form plaque on the surface of the oral cavity, if it is not removed in time, the plaque may mineralize and form calculus on the tooth surface and above the gum line. This harder tartar has a continuous irritating effect on the gums. When normal gums are stimulated by inflammation, the capillaries in the gums increase, they become congested, and the gums darken or turn bright red. Once stimulated, the gums are prone to bleed. This is the reason for bleeding gums. Since gingivitis is an early stage of periodontal disease, the symptoms are reversible if its development is controlled in time. Therefore, regular cleaning (teeth washing) to remove tartar and relieve gum inflammation can help gingivitis heal.

In periodontitis, not only do the gums bleed, but the periodontal tissues are irreversibly damaged and the teeth may even become loose. Even if regular cleaning (scaling) cannot completely restore the lesions, scaling and other periodontal treatments or periodontal surgery may be needed to effectively control the disease.

Gingival bleeding does not only occur in oral diseases. Systemic diseases are also the main causes of gingival bleeding that cannot be ignored, such as scurvy, leukemia, hemophilia, thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic pelvic hemorrhage, diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, cirrhosis, hypersplenism, late-stage nephritis, etc.

treat

① Nutritional supplement: There are many reasons for bleeding, so the cause must be found out in order to effectively prevent and treat it. If you are deficient in vitamin C, in addition to taking vitamin C tablets under the guidance of a doctor, you should also pay more attention to supplementing your diet with foods rich in vitamin C and eat more fruits and vegetables. If it is periodontitis, you must take anti-inflammatory drugs under the guidance of a doctor and go for follow-up visits as ordered by the doctor. You cannot stop taking the medicine at will.

② Teeth cleaning: Everyone is familiar with ultrasonic teeth cleaning, which is aimed at removing dental calculus. Because dental plaque is more likely to cause the accumulation of dental plaque, leading to gingivitis, bleeding gums, and periodontal disease, removing dental plaque is a medical procedure. Of course, during the treatment, the calculus on the tooth neck and adjacent surfaces is removed, and the teeth will also appear whiter. The disadvantages of teeth cleaning are that it is painful, causes a lot of bleeding, and the tooth surface becomes rougher after cleaning, causing stains and tartar to reappear more quickly, and there is also the possibility of infection.

③Biological absorption treatment. The method of use is to hold it in your mouth, then brush your teeth and rinse your mouth.

④Choose a suitable toothpaste. In fact, bleeding teeth are closely related to improper choice of toothpaste. If you neglect the protection of your gums in daily care, it is very likely to aggravate the deterioration of dental diseases.

prevention

If the irritation and bleeding is caused by poor oral hygiene and a large amount of dental plaque and tartar (this situation is the most common), you can go to the dental department and ask the doctor to clean your teeth, remove the dental plaque and tartar (commonly known as teeth washing, medically known as scaling and scraping), and take oral antibiotics for 1 week. The gingivitis will disappear quickly and the bleeding will stop. Generally speaking, even if there is no gum bleeding, you should have your teeth cleaned once every six months to a year.

If the bleeding gums are caused by residual roots or crowns, the residual crowns and roots should be removed and dentures should be replaced later; if the bleeding gums are caused by poorly made braces or poor restorations, new braces should be made or the teeth should be re-filled.
