Fruit juice is probably a drink that many people like to drink, especially freshly squeezed juice, which is rich in vitamins and has a very beneficial effect on the human gastrointestinal tract. Apple, a common fruit in life, is often squeezed into juice to make apple juice for drinking. But some people accidentally get apple juice on their clothes when drinking it. So how should you clean your clothes if they get stained with apple juice? Apply ammonia to dissolve the tannic acid and pectin, then wash off using the usual method. Apple juice, or any other fruit juice, contains pectin and tannic acid, two components that are difficult to dissolve in water. Therefore, they are not easy to wash off with conventional washing methods, and after washing, faint brown-yellow marks will remain on the contaminated areas of the juice. First, let’s talk about tannic acid, also known as tannic acid. It is originally a class of complex, water-soluble high-molecular alcohol and phenolic compounds. Tannic acid is originally soluble in water, but because it is easily oxidized by air to become denatured tannic acid, it is not easy to wash off if exposed to the air for a long time. Pectin is a high molecular compound called polygalacturonic acid, which is insoluble in water and has a certain sticky adhesion. Once it sticks to clothes, it is difficult to wash off with conventional water washing methods. To process this type of juice, ammonia is generally used to decompose and dissolve the pectin and tannic acid, making them water-soluble components, which can then be easily washed off by conventional methods. Because ammonia is highly volatile and has a pungent odor, stain removal should be carried out in an open space outdoors as much as possible. The specific method is as follows: first go to the chemical store to buy a bottle of ammonia water, which is only a few dollars. Dip a cotton swab in ammonia and apply it repeatedly directly to the juice-contaminated area. If you feel that it evaporates too quickly, you can dilute the ammonia appropriately by adding 2-3 times the amount of water. After applying, leave it for a few minutes or so and then see if the color becomes lighter. If it does not become noticeably lighter, you can apply it again. Then soak it in detergent water and you can start washing. Note that if it is silk clothing, you need to be careful because ammonia is too alkaline and may cause a certain degree of discoloration. Be careful and don't be too hasty. |
