How to disinfect medical equipment

We all know that for some medical devices, disposable ones are generally chosen, because disposable medical devices are particularly clean. However, for those medical devices that need to be recycled, strict disinfection procedures must be carried out, otherwise the patient may be infected with some diseases, because cross-infection is most likely to occur in hospitals. So how are medical devices disinfected?

Instrument disinfection:

The procedure for cleaning and disinfection of instruments is disinfection, cleaning, drying and sterilization. Since chemical disinfection is corrosive to metals, physical disinfection methods are usually used: such as boiling, high-pressure steam, dry heat, ultraviolet rays, microwaves, etc. Among them, high pressure sterilization or dry heat method is best. After water disinfection such as boiling and steaming, the products must go through a drying process. This can ensure that the instrument's cheeks and other parts are not eroded by water for a long time, and can also avoid secondary pollution. As long as you pay attention to the disinfection method, the uncoated instruments can remain as good as new for a long time.

Matt brushed instruments are most likely to retain moisture during sterilization, so special attention should be paid to the drying procedure after sterilization. Many imported high-end equipment used in China also often suffer from rust problems. In fact, it is mainly due to the non-standard disinfection of domestic instruments.

Mirror-finished instruments have a very smooth surface and moisture cannot remain on the surface of the instrument. So it is not easy to oxidize. While the current disinfection situation in domestic hospitals is not standardized, this treatment method is also widely accepted by domestic hospitals. Even if moisture is occasionally introduced, oxidation is unlikely to occur. The disadvantage is that the mirror surface is easy to reflect light. Not suitable for delicate surgery.

There are no material requirements for electroplating equipment. Even a piece of pig iron can be protected by a silver-white electroplating layer to hide many processing defects and effectively prevent water and oxidation.

But the coating can cause lasting damage to the user. If the coating is thin or falls off, it will oxidize on a large scale.
