Swimming pool cleaning and disinfection

Swimming pool cleaning and disinfection

There are actually many swimming pools around us. Especially when adults take their children to swim, they must choose a more standardized swimming place. This can not only ensure the personal safety of the children, but also prevent the children from being infected by some bacteria in the water. Because large swimming pools need to be disinfected every day, some germs can be killed smoothly. So how can swimming pools be cleaned and disinfected?

Disinfection of swimming pools

(I) The outside of the swimming pool, the walkways around the pool and the sanitary facilities should be cleaned, scrubbed or rinsed once at the beginning and end of each shift. If contamination is found, it can be disinfected by spraying or wiping with a chlorine-containing disinfectant at a concentration of 250-500mg/L, and then scrubbed with clean water. Emergency rooms should be cleaned and disinfected regularly.

(ii) Shower rooms should be scrubbed frequently and the floor can be disinfected regularly using a chlorine-containing disinfectant with a concentration of 500 mg/L.

(III) Lockers should be cleaned and disinfected at the end of each day’s opening. They can be disinfected by spraying or wiping with a chlorine-containing disinfectant at a concentration of 250-500mg/L, and then scrubbing with clean water.

(iv) Public toilets and trash cans should be cleaned promptly every day and disinfected regularly with 500mg/L chlorine-containing disinfectant.

(V) Central air-conditioning systems should be cleaned and disinfected regularly in strict accordance with the requirements of the “Management Measures for Central Air-conditioning and Ventilation Systems in Public Places”. Other drinking water, disinfection, rescue and other facilities and equipment should be cleaned and disinfected regularly.

Swimming pools are generally divided into two types, one is stagnant water, and the other is running water (with a water circulation system).

Water purification steps:

1. Add precipitant (alum or other drugs)

2. Add disinfectant (chlorine powder dilution)

3. Acid-base balance controller (alkaline tablet diluent)

This is the main medicine used. There are usually algaecides and a chemical that can make the water bluer. Copper sulfate was used in the past, but later it was changed to something else.

After adding the precipitant, most of the dirt or fungi in the pool can be killed and clumped to the bottom of the swimming pool within 12-20 hours. At this time, manual or machine vacuuming is required. After manual vacuuming or machine vacuuming, the recoil sand tank will drain some of the swimming pool water, and the swimming pool needs to be replenished with new water.

The main component of disinfectant is chloride ion, which is relatively easy to volatilize, so disinfectant needs to be added at irregular intervals every day to ensure the chloride ion level; the acid-base balance mainly depends on alkali tablets.

Manual water treatment is rather tiring, but most community swimming pools cannot do without manual water treatment. High-end communities, schools, and gyms will have very good water circulation systems, but without experienced water quality workers, the water cleanliness will not meet the standards.

I have never been a full-time water quality worker. I just watched and learned about it when I was a coach. This is just superficial information, so please correct me if I find any.
