The foot is the second heart of the human body

The foot is the second heart of the human body

Many people say that feet are the second heart of a person, because there are many acupoints on our feet. When we feel uncomfortable, we go to a foot massage shop for a foot massage. The pedicurist will massage the acupoints on the feet. Through the patient's massage response, the pedicurist can determine what is wrong with the patient's body. Effective massage can also relieve our fatigue. So why do we say that feet are the second heart of the human body?

Once the heart stops beating, human life stops. Why is the foot called the "second heart" of the human body? Because the feet can help the heart work, and like the heart, they play a vital role in promoting blood circulation in the human body.

Feet are farthest from the heart

It's easy for blood to flow from the heart to the feet, but it's not so easy for blood to flow from the feet back to the heart. One is due to the effect of gravity, and the other is because the blood in the feet has a longer distance to return to the heart, coupled with the resistance of abdominal pressure, so the blood in the feet needs to have enough pressure to return smoothly.

For the venous blood in the feet to return to the heart smoothly, the negative pressure generated by the heart beating and the chest inhalation movement is not enough.

The human body uses the power of foot muscle contraction to push venous blood through capillaries, venules, and veins to flow back to the heart, allowing the entire blood circulation of the human body to proceed smoothly.

Because the force of the contraction of the foot muscles can assist the heart in "sending blood from the heart back to the heart" like a pump, the foot is no less important than the heart, so the foot is called the "second heart" of the human body.

If the feet cannot play the role of the "second heart" well, the venous blood in the feet will not be able to return to the heart smoothly and will be retained in the feet. As a result, the resistance of the heart to pushing arterial blood to the feet will increase, thereby increasing the intensity of the myocardial work and causing harm to the heart. At the same time, a large amount of venous blood accumulates in the lower limbs, causing the lower limbs to feel heavy, the legs and feet to become clumsy, and it is also easy to form venous thrombosis.

Walking can activate the contraction and extension of the muscles around the blood vessels in the feet, just like the beating of the heart, stretching or contracting like a water pump, helping the heart to promote blood circulation. The burden on the heart will be greatly reduced, and the blood will be well circulated. Only when the Qi and blood in the whole body flow smoothly can life be full of vitality.

Walking is the simplest and most convenient way to prevent heart disease. For most people, walking exercise can prevent atherosclerosis and reduce heart disease by 30%; people who walk 10,000 steps a day will reduce their risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases by 60%.

The World Health Organization defines walking as “the best exercise in the world”. Statistics: Every step you take can promote 50% of the body's blood flow, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis; it can squeeze 50% of the body's blood vessels, which is a simple "vascular exercise" and helps maintain the elasticity of blood vessels; it can exercise at least 50% of the muscles, helping to maintain the total muscle volume. Experts recommend that healthy adults walk every day as a regular form of exercise throughout their lives.
