Fresh orange peels cannot be used to soak in water. Maybe you think that orange peel and dried tangerine peel are the same thing, so there is no difference between soaking fresh orange peel and dried tangerine peel in water. Maybe the vitamin content of fresh orange peel is even higher. In fact, fresh orange peels cannot be soaked in water. Fresh orange peels may be irritating and can cause great harm to people with poor stomach function. Both tangerines and oranges belong to the broad-skinned citrus family, which belongs to the genus Citrus in the Rutaceae family. The fruit has a thick outer skin and contains pulp consisting of juice bubbles and seeds. Li Shizhen recorded in Compendium of Materia Medica, Fruit: "Tangerine is small, its petals taste slightly vinegar (i.e. sour), its skin is thin and red, and tastes spicy and bitter; mandarin is larger than tangerine, its petals taste sour, its skin is slightly thick and yellow, and its leaves are spicy and sweet." Generally speaking, mandarin has a round shape, yellow-red color, tight skin with fine lines that are not easy to peel, juicy and sweet; tangerine has an oblate shape, red or yellow color, thin and smooth skin that is easy to peel, and tastes slightly sweet and sour. Although there are differences between tangerine and orange, they are often used interchangeably in daily language. For example, Guanggan is also called Guangju, and Mitang is also called Migan. Traditional Chinese medicine advises not to use fresh orange peels. We know that orange peel and the Chinese medicinal tangerine peel are the same thing and have great medicinal value. Therefore, many people like to collect the peeled orange peels and soak them in water to drink. Chinese medicine experts point out that fresh orange peels should not be eaten. Experts say that fresh tangerine peel becomes dried tangerine peel only after it has been dried and processed. The longer the orange peel is aged, the better. It should generally be kept for two years before use. Tangerine peel is a commonly used Chinese medicine for regulating qi, strengthening the stomach, and resolving phlegm. Drinking it as tea can indeed clear away heat and resolve phlegm. It is different when soaking in water with fresh orange peel, because fresh orange peel contains more volatile oil, which can easily irritate the digestive tract and lead to digestive dysfunction. In addition, fresh orange peel irritates the stomach and intestines. It may also be because there are pesticides or preservatives attached to the surface of the orange peel, and normal washing and sun exposure may not completely remove these harmful substances. Therefore, it is best not to use fresh tangerine peel to make tea or wine. When drying tangerine peel yourself, be careful not to use tangerine peel with mold on the surface. |
