Why do teeth ache? It is caused by these four reasons

As the saying goes, toothache is not a disease that is really painful. Toothache is also a kind of toothache. It is often caused by caries (commonly known as tooth decay), wear of the occlusal surface of the teeth, wedge-shaped defects, etc. It can also be caused by trauma or periodontal disease.

1. Tooth decay (commonly known as tooth decay)

When caries lesions are damaged to a certain depth, the tooth enamel is destroyed and will produce symptoms of soreness and pain after being exposed to various stimuli such as cold, heat, sourness, and sweetness. Symptoms disappear after caries treatment.

2. Wear of the occlusal surface of teeth

The surface of teeth is covered with a layer of white, hard enamel. Due to long-term use, the occlusal surface of the teeth may be worn away. If the wear is too rapid or severe, the dentin, the layer beneath the tooth, can become exposed. There are dentin fibers with nerve endings in the dentin layer. At this time, if the exposed teeth are stimulated by external factors, it will cause toothache symptoms. When teeth begin to ache, if you still do not take care of them and continue to wear them out, it may cause other dental diseases and make treatment more complicated. Therefore, you should see a doctor for regular check-ups as soon as possible.

3. Wedge-shaped defect

The most common location is a triangular or crescent-shaped defect at the neck of the tooth near the gum margin or cheek surface. When the defect develops to a certain depth, it may cause symptoms of soreness and pain. There are many reasons for wedge-shaped defects, which are related to the long-term wear on the neck of the tooth due to the weak enamel structure at the neck of the tooth and the long-term unreasonable use of horizontal brushing methods. In addition, an acidic secretion that is constantly secreted in the mouth erodes the neck and edge of the teeth, and certain occupations, such as acid-making workers who are often exposed to erosion by acidic substances, can also cause tooth defects.

4. Other reasons

Such as trauma, periodontal disease, unexplained dentin hypersensitivity, etc.
