What are the methods for treating vitiligo

Vitiligo is a skin disease with localized depigmentation. Patients will experience skin whitening of varying sizes and shapes at the affected area. The disease is also known as vitiligo, white spots and mottled spots. When the disease occurs, it will appear anywhere on the patient's body. When symptoms appear, timely treatment is required because the disease spreads rapidly. Now let’s talk about the methods for treating vitiligo.

1. Treatment with chrysalisin and psoralea corylifolia tincture:

Banzhusu injection is extracted from the traditional Chinese medicine Psoralea corylifolia and is used for intramuscular injection. The cure rate for patients in the early stages of the disease is about 1-2%, and the effective rate is over 30%. Psoralea corylifolia tincture is made by soaking Psoralea corylifolia in alcohol. It has certain therapeutic effects when applied externally, but it is rare for people to be cured by using it alone.

2. Supplement trace elements:

Some researchers believe that the lack or imbalance of trace elements is the cause of this disease. The physiological activities of the human body require the participation of multiple trace elements. It is not yet fully clear which element deficiency or which element imbalance is related to this disease. Therefore, there is no definite theoretical basis for the supplementation of trace elements, and clinical trials of supplementation with elements such as copper and zinc have not yielded significant results. However, according to clinical observations, the incidence rate of picky eating among children is high, and the treatment effect is poor compared with children with the same condition. The efficacy can be improved after correcting the picky eating, which shows that this disease is related to nutrient deficiency (including trace element deficiency).

3. Immunomodulatory therapy:

Currently commonly used immunomodulator drugs (such as transfer factor, calf thymosin, etc.) are usually used for infectious diseases caused by low immunity, and their therapeutic effects are quite significant. The treatment of this disease is still in the observation and research stage. Although oral steroid hormones have certain therapeutic effects, they have significant side effects when used over a long period of time. A "rebound phenomenon" is likely to occur after discontinuation of the medication, which can accelerate the progression of the disease. Therefore, they are generally not used for routine treatment in clinical practice.

4. Ultraviolet irradiation method:

Ultraviolet light is located outside of violet light on the spectrum and is also called ultraviolet light. Sunlight contains a lot of ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet light irradiation can theoretically increase the photosensitivity of pigment cells and encourage them to produce more melanin. It is a traditional treatment method.
